Tynes, Elam, or Carney???

Postby wemanniv » Thu Sep 10, 2009 10:26 am

Have Tynes on my roster, but Elam was recently dropped and I could use my #1 waiver priority to grab him. Carney is also available who should have a nice wk1 against the Lions. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I like Carney vs Detroit. He is only playing for 3(4?) weeks though, so you're going to have to drop him later if you pick him up

Elam is my top choice at kicker this year.

Picking a kicker is kinda wild. There are only two things you can look at/hope to predict: the kickers accuracy (Elam his 29/30 FG last season) and the ability of the offense to get close to scoring a get stopped.

I doubt Carney will get many FG opportunities against the Lions (but he'll probably kick 5 or 6 extra points).

Carney shouldn't be started in week 1 unless you get 3 points for XPs. Of the 3 listed I would start Tynes. The Skins D is just good enough to stop the G-Men at the 20-30yd line a couple times in week 1. I think Tynes could kick 3 FGs and 2 XP s for you in week 1. The Giants D will get a couple to's too which could give Tynes more opportunities.

Tynes
ELam
Carney
for week 1

Elam
Tynes
Carney
for the year

BTW NEEEVER use your #1 waiver priority on a kicker since 2 days later someone could drop Brees and you would miss the boat for sure.
