Do I start Mike Bell?

Postby vinxavi » Thu Sep 10, 2009 4:59 pm

Tonight I have C.J. going against Pitt, but was thinking of starting Mike Bell against Detroit on Sunday. Problem is if Pierre Thomas does end up playing I'll be screwed and would have to start either James Davis or LeSean McCoy.

Can you give us some roster info here? Do you have another (unnamed) back you are going to be starting for sure? If you could fill in the holes, we would love to cover your post in "4th and Goal" the Cafe's fantasy football podcast, which will air tomorrow on Fantasy Cafe Radio. We can answer right now to help out your CJ4.24 question, but still put it online for other people wondering about Bell...

My other starter is Steve Slaton. LeSean McCoy, Lendale White, Glen Coffee and James Davis are my bench RBs. Mike Bell was a FA pickup this week and will most likely be dropped after this week. Even though C.J. is playing against Pitt @ home, flag raising and all I think a bad game by C.J. tonight is not that far off from a Mike Bell good game. But on the other hand if Pierre Thomas sits out N.O. will go up big early and should just run the ball most of the 2nd half which could give Bell huge fantasy value this week. Anyone have a coin to flip?

We agree with Johnson's potential for a major letdown this week. From everything we have heard, Thomas is all but a lock to be out this week, and your analysis of Bell's upside (for this week only, probably) is spot on.

Johnson did have 69 yards on 16 carries (and a TD) against the Steelers last year, but that was a 16 game that was meaningless if memory serves. Bell should be able to at least match this type of production that is likely Johnson's ceiling for tonight's game.

Hope this helps - and we hope you'll listen to the podcast this week and in the future ;-D

Is it PPR?

I am usualy a strong advocate of playing your Studs, however this matchup differential is about as extreme as it gets

@ Pittsburgh
or
Home to Detroit!

You couldnt get more extreme.

Roll with Mike Bell - One week only special ;-D

I'm thinking just to go with my best players because every time I play matchups I get screwed, and I'll really screw myself if Pierre Thomas does play. Plus given my matchup this week I have all the advantages from my QB - Drew Brees to WRs - Reggie Wayne, Ochocinco and DeSean Jackson to TE - Dallas Clark and DST - Ravens. Right now I'm sticking with C.J. but I still have 2hrs to decide.

Not a PPR league. 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DST
