Ok...I have my starters at WR Andre Johnson, Thee Steve Smith, Ginn Jr, (we get return yards) and Bernard Berrian (W/T)...Is Crabtree worth a bench player? Is there even a point for me to pick him up with what I have? We have 4 bench spots...i have Larry Johnson, James Davis, Steve Smith (NYG)

In a dyansty league, yes.
Other than that, **** NO.
Mike Singletary would not let that pos on the field this season if he signed yesterday.

If it is a keeper or dynasty, if not, why bother. Even if he signed today it would take him a month or so to even get caught up to what they had done in training camp, but that will be tough with it being the season. So you would be wasting a roster spot until he would be playing well, which would be Dec. Wait until he at least signs and then maybe pick him up after a week or two.

Absolutely not.
As a Niner fan, I wouldn't have drafted him even if I expected him to sign in time. The Niners are a run first team and Crabtree would be the #3 receiver at best if he signed before the season started.
Plus he's a douche

Let him rot on the wires or let selecting him be someone else's mistake.
