Drop A. Gonzo or Avery? WHIR

Postby markulous » Tue Sep 15, 2009 12:59 pm

PPR league rules in sig. We don't have a TE spot we just have 5 WR's and TE's count as one of those spots. Right now my WR's look like:

Steve Smith(CAR)
Roddy White
Dwayne Bowe
Anthony Gonzalez
Donnie Avery

Obviously I'm not dropping the 1st 3 but is Gonzo or Avery worth keeping? On the FA list is:

Mario Manningham
Earl Bennett
Devery Henderson
Laurent Robinson
John Carlson
Benjamin Watson
Jeremy Shockey
Ted Ginn Jr.
Mark Clayton

I think I might drop both Gonzo and Avery for either of Bennett, Shockey, Carlson in that order.

Drop Gonzo and Avery pick up Bennett and Burleson. Both should prove to be PPR machines this year. Atleast, there value is in PPR leagues.

Do you have to start 5 WRs or you just have 5 on your roster? I am assuming you don't have to start 5.

I'd hang onto Gonzo for sure. He is going to miss 2-6 weeks, then he will return as a solid fantasy starter.

Carlson is a great pick up in most leagues....but not in this one. If the league doesn't actually start TEs and instead groups them in with WRs, then it hugely devalues TEs. Only Witten and Gates and maybe Clark are even legit starters in this format.

In this format, Shockey and Watson have almost zero value. Carlson it is hard to say since he had one really great week.

Report just came out saying Gonzo is out for up to 8 weeks now. I think dropping him for Bennett is probably the best idea. Only thing that sucks in our league is we get 5 free drop/pickups then after that each one is $5. Just trying to decide whether or not it's worth that pickup.

I think you have to drop Gonzo. For as long as he's out, he's just not that good to warrant you holding a spot for him that long. Not to mention, how good is he gonna be when he gets back??

Grab Bennett

thanks for the help with mine

I'd drop both and nab Bennett and Burleson. Bennett will surprise folks this year, and although I think Carlson might be more consistent points-wise, you have enough depth to take a chance on a big-play threat like Burelson. If he stays healthy he will produce.

Good luck, and please see mine:

VERY strict rosters...MUST have:

3 RBs (start 2)
4 WRs (start 2)
2 TEs (start 1)
2 D/STs (start 1)
2 Ks (start 1)

Burleson is gone. But Manningham is available. Avery is looking terrible I'm still not sure who to drop.
