Impulse Trade! Bought Low on Steven Jax for Benchwarmers

Postby chrisjay84 » Tue Sep 15, 2009 3:09 pm

I made this trade in a second because I was afraid he was going to withdraw it so I wasn't able to confer with the forums but I just traded three of my bench players

Hasselbeck
Benson
Braylon Edwards

for

Steven Jackson

I think this was a great trade for me. It gives me a lineup of River, MJD, S Jax, Calvin Johnson, Vincent Jackson and Brandon Marshall.

Did I just make a great trade or trade away all my bench for nothing?

No you didn't. You just traded away your best option at QB for injury prone RB from a very very bad team.

I don't much care for SJAX anymore, but he has Rivers. Matt is not the best option.

you really think that Rivers is going to do better than Hasselbeck this year? I hope you watched last nights Traiders/Chargers game.

awful trade. Benson has value only because of one performance, hasslebeck looked good despite having a banged up o-line and WR core still coming together, braylon edwards is still the #1 in clevo and quinn's going to air it to him a lot eventually. you got beat pretty bad man.

I think you were taken on the trade... bench players or not, their value combined is greater than SJax's who I'm not that high on this year at all. You can only play as good as your team and unfortunately the Rams suck again. They may give him the rock, but he'll take a pounding and probably won't last the year again. He's the type of guy that will get you 25 pts one week and 4 the next so get ready to play matchups along w/ the guessing game. More of a headache than anything. Oh, and I think Hasselbeck will rebound as a top 10 QB this year easily. Benson is a decent flex most weeks. I'm not big on Braylon, but I just think he had a bad game and Quinn will eventually start to find him more. Best of luck though... who knows, it could work out.

I disagree. Rivers is my starting QB, especially with the connection I have with Vincent Jackson, so Hass was going to be nothing but a bye week replacement. Yes he didn't look great against the Raiders last night, but I sat him anyways bc 1) the Raiders pass def is great and 2) SD usually (and did) runs all over Oakland. Benson was never going to see the light of day unless he played Denver and Detroit, and R. Brown is not who i wanted as my number 2 back (splits carries, no passing game to prevent teams from stacking the box), and Edwards was a coin flip between him and Marshall, and I decided to go with the one who didn't have his hands coated in butter all year.

Yes Jackson plays for a bad team, but there's no way they get shut out like they did last week consistently. He's the primary back of a rookie head coach that will want to run the ball to establish the play action pass (of which he would be a target). They're in the NFC West, which means he gets to play SF and AZ twice. All in all, he's a top 10 back who I traded for with my 6th, 7th and 10th round picks, who were all bye week replacements.
