WHO TO START!!! AHHHH!!!!

Postby Eightan » Wed Sep 16, 2009 10:32 pm

So I have a WR/RB flex spot and I'm deciding on starting Faulk, Henderson, Bruce, or McClain. I figure it's usually better to start a back in this position, but I'm not sure which one...? Is Faulk even the primary back on New England? Seems like he got the most time on the field in week 1....

On the other hand, Bruce is definitely the #1 target for the Niners and Henderson should get some passes playing with Breeze.... so which way do I go....?

14 team league, H2H points, standard cats, except 4 points for passing TD's and 1/2 point per reception.

QB- McNabb (I'll start Leftwich this week)
WR- Steve Smith
WR- Hines Ward
RB- Westbrook
RB- Thomas Jones
TE- Zach Miller
W/R- ?????????
BN- Henderson, McNabb, Faulk, McClain, Bruce, Pennington
Def- Pittsburgh
K- Longwell

Given that rather sparse look of options, I'd take my chances on Henderson this week, who has emerged as the #2 receiver in New Orleans over Lance Moore (at least in week 1). Faulk and McClain are very little used options in the standard offense of either the Pats or Ravens as both are situational guys only. Given Bruce's limited upside, I'd definitely trot Devery out there this week.

Help me?

SEA is down one of their best DB's and Bruce is always a save bet for 60+yards and maybe a score. He is a sneaky play when you have the right match up. I like him this week.

Avoid NE RB's. Who knows what is going on. Faulk is the 3rd down back/passing downs.
McClain: FB now and Rice/Willis are getting the rock. Boooo
Henderson vs PHI not a good match up at all! Shocky,RB's,Colston, Moore no thanks

I tend to play on what some would consider the conservative side by using match ups. Isaac Bruce, though he does have less upside - I'll admit, is going up against an abysmal Seattle secondary. Even though he's isn't the flashy choice, I'd stick him in your flex spot.

My only pause in starting Devery Henderson would be in NO's matchup against the Eagles. Breezey tends to spread things out, and Moore could readily take back his W2 spot. It's a bit of a gamble on who'll get DB's eyesight in the endzone. The Eagles defensive backs will definitely have a target on him after his nice W1 ... but they won't be able to contain him through the whole game. BHut he certainly has the homerun potential, making him that risk/reward kind of guy.
