Week 3 Buy Low Candidates

Postby SameSongNDance » Mon Sep 21, 2009 2:28 pm

The art of buying low has helped numerous fantasy owners find themselves as champions at seasons end. I'm just going to throw some under-performing big names out there for us to analyze as buy low candidates

RB:

LT
Forte
Slaton
Willie Parker
Brandon Jacobs
Lendale White

WR:

Brandon Marshall
Eddie Royal
Anquan Boldin
Tj. Housh
Santana Moss

There are a couple more, but I'll leave it at that. So what do you guys think? Who are you looking to target and for what reasons. I'll list most of my picks/reasons after a little bit of research.

Some other guys I'd be looking at are:

QB:
Tom Brady - Probably won't get him for super cheap but definitely for less than he was valued at early on
Donovan McNabb - Injuries always make people panic

RB:
Michael Turner - Not doing terrible but 170 yards and 1 TD in 2 games is much less than expected
Clinton Portis - Ok yardage, but no TDs
Pierre Thomas - His value couldn't be lower...I think he'll still factor in that offense this season and you can probably get him for pretty cheap now
Ronnie Brown - Depending on what happens tonight obviously...but if he doesn't explode, he could be a nice buy low
Knowshon Moreno - Most talented RB on that team...eventually you have to think they'll figure it out but he can probably be had for pretty cheap right now

I am contemplating trading for Slaton. I am in great need of RB1 and am pretty sure I could get him for a couple of WR2's. He has gone up against two pretty solid run defense (Pitt and NE did not run against Tenn and NYJ either) The schedule seems to get a bit easier also. So first I'll offer DJax and P Harvin for Jacobs, and if he doesn't bite, I'll offer those two for Slaton. WR is my strength and these guys are starving for receivers. I'll see what happens........

Willie Parker was a draft low, he is now a buy low, and he will remain in a lowly state all year long. That running game in PIT is just atrocious this year (good word, huh?). B-)

I'm a Santana Moss owner, and you could throw some dust at me and I'll give you him in return. First, WAS is a run first team. 2nd, there's seems to be no cohesiveness between him and Campbell (or Campbell and anyone else for that matter). They just played one of the worst defenses in the league in St. Louis, and still couldn't score a touchdown. I'm really thinking about dropping him for MM right now, but doubt that I'd get him due to my low waiver priority. Hopefully I can trade him on name recognition to another owner who lacks depth at WR, because watching him through the first two games, I wouldn't even be comfortable using him as a bye week fill in. Can you tell I'm down on Santana Moss?

vykeengfan....

I have moss as well and....

Id give him one more chance against Detroit's secondary this week. I just saw the Skins play against the Giants last week and the offensive line is awful, Cambell has no time what-so-ever to throw. Detroit has no pass rush so hopefully he gets some more time and can get some deep shots to Moss.

Then after he gets his yds and hopefully a td or 2 ...sell high.

I am a huge Redskins fan and was at the game on Sunday. It pains me to say it but the Redskins offense is terrible! I think until Campbell is gone (hopefully sooner rather than later), Moss is going to seriously suffer. I agree with the above poster. IF he has a big game, sell him.

I think Forte is definitely a buy-low right now.

RB
----
Forte
Pierre Thomas (he has a couple of tough weeks ahead though)
Lynch (b/c so many are worried about FJax splitting w/ him)
Leon Washington (in PPR leagues... he hasn't done a ton, but will see a lot more action)

QB
----
McNabb (whenever QB's get injured people freak out, he'll be good when he plays, get him low)
Cutler (he's looked somewhat unimpressive so far, but he'll pick it up soon)

WR
----
Anquan Boldin (hammy has kept him out, he'll return)
Greg Jennings (stud, potential top 5 WR, 1 goose egg so guys are down on him)
S. Smith CAR (A lot of guys have lost faith in Delhomme... so he's on the block)
Roddy White (mediocre games thus far, Gonzo getting more attention... White will be fine)
2010 12-team .5PPR
QB - Ryan, Vick
RB - S. Greene, Forte, Stewart, F. Jones, Sproles
WR - Moss, Megatron, NYG Smith, Floyd, M. Williams (TB)
TE - Cooley
D - CIN (week to week)
K - Bironas
