It's killing me to leave McGahee on my bench, especially with everything I've been reading about him being the "go to" guy in the red zone. I'd almost rather get burnt by Forte on my bench, than have McGahee posting 4 X the points Forte does for the 3rd week in a row. Their projected numbers are almost identical for this week.
Any thoughts or opinions on who you'd start week 3, FORTE or MCGAHEE?
Oh, and I also have Sproles plugged in to my flex, so I could sit him . . . but he's projected for more than both of them.
I have a gut feeling that this will be Forte's week. I mean if he can't do it against SEA... something is up.
I don't know if it's that Cutler just has been forced to pass or if Matt has something going on that we don't know about - or it could be a simple answer, 2 tough D's in the first 2 weeks.
Anyway, look at who you're up against this week. If it looks like you're projected to win, play it safe and put McGahee in there since he looks good this year. But if it's one of those games where you're up against the better team, Forte is worth chancing to put up big numbers. I bet he plays w/ a chip on his shoulder... he's looked extremely frustrated in there.
I'm actually trying to buy Forte low right now. Offering K. Smith or D. Jackson + Ray Rice to get him.
Best of luck!
2010 12-team .5PPR QB - Ryan, Vick RB - S. Greene, Forte, Stewart, F. Jones, Sproles WR - Moss, Megatron, NYG Smith, Floyd, M. Williams (TB) TE - Cooley D - CIN (week to week) K - Bironas
It's a tough choice, but I think I'd go with McGahee, because even though he isn't the starter he has been putting up nice numbers so far...3 rushing scores, 1 receiving TD...not bad for a 2nd stringer...plus I think he's trying to make the point that he should still be number one. Forte is a great back, who has had to face pretty tough Ds in his first couple of weeks, and should definitely do much better against the Seahawks...but then again, McGahee is going against the Browns...so that's a pretty favorable match up as well. I don't think you really can go wrong on this one, but if it was up to me, I'd go with McGahee. Good luck!
I'm kinda biased, cuz I own McGahee, but I'd start him over Forte. Not only is he clearly their go-to guy in the red zone, but he also looked better than Rice in regular yardage run plays as well this week. During the broadcast, they were saying how the competition for reps has really motivated McGahee this year. And he looks like it. He's running quick, hitting the openings. He's showing determination on those goalline scores. Rice, at least in week 2, looked hesitant, almost out of place at times. Couple that with the fact that the Ravens offense is pretty improved and basically a legit scoring team now, and I like McGahee for this year. Once LT comes back, it's looking like McGahee's going to cement my RB2 spot over Addai and Parker.
I don't know much about Forte, as it definitely sounds like two good defenses might have kept him down. But with a hurting D and Cutler in town, I could see Chicago going to the pass a lot more, especially if they're always playing catch up.
I'm not necessarily down on Forte, but I'm up on McGahee.
Go with Forte and don't look back. He is the guy between the 20's and the red-zone guy in Chicago. Gore just put up 207 rushing yards against Seattle.
I think Forte is the safer play and has more upside... and it's not close. We've all see Willis have a couple big games. I'd let Baltimore figure their situation out before pulling my first round draft pick for their "redzone" guy.
I hate to make your decision more difficult, but I would actually sit Sproles. I think that MIA is better against the run than they get credit for. Seattle got gashed my boy FGeezy last week and will probably get gashed again considering Lofa T. is nursing his hamstring and Seattle will have no answer to the Bears on offense with Hasselbeck out. Forte will bust loose for sure. McGahee against the Browns at home is a sure thing in my opinion. I am starting him on my team this week and feel good about it.
I dont know if you saw what Frank Gore did to Seattle's run defense last week, but lets just say theres little doubt that next Sunday will be a field day for Forte. McGahee is splitting carries three ways with Rice and McClain. The choice is either a chance at a lot of TDs or a chance at a lot of TDs and a lot of yards. No offense, but in my book Forte is a no-brainer starter this week.
