Just gave myself a weekly dilemma...

Postby GoodStash » Tue Sep 22, 2009 9:44 pm

After Schaub's terrible week one, I panicked and made a trade to get Phillip Rivers. The guy traded with was in desperate need of a RB so I traded high with Ray Rice, gave him Carson Palmer (he wanted nothing to do with Schaub.) and Kellen Winslow. He gave me Rivers and Witten...(he also was high on Carlson's first week and considered him his starter.)

I guess Rivers is the guy I start, but I didn't draft Schaub in two leagues because I didn't like him. I've considered trading him, but I'm pretty happy with my squad

RBs- Maurice Jones-Drew, Ronnie Brown, Kevin Smith, Ricky Williams, and Donald Brown
WRs- Calvin Johnson, Greg Jennings, Chad Ocho Cinco, DeSean Jackson, Braylon Edwards

I'd like better RB depth, but nobody's gonna give me the type of guy I want for Rivers, or Schaub. I could play match-ups? Or I could just make this a weekly bump to see who you guys would start B-)

What would you guys do?...

I would start Rivers, but if you like a matchup that Schaub has, go with Schaub.
A win next week and all is forgotten.

I appreciate the reply, but that is the exact dilemma I'm contemplating (And will be for the whole season.). Schaub is the playing the Jaguars who let Warner throw all over them and Rivers is playing Miami controlled the ball well, but still let Manning go for over 300 with two TDs. I think I like Schaubs match-up, but its hard to sit Rivers against the Dolphins after the game he had...

I guess its a good problem to have? :-?

Don't sit your studs IMO. Start Rivers, especially after that performance he had last weekend.

You could trade up.

Ronnie Brown just had a stud game on MNF. You also have his handcuff. Kevin Smith is also a viable trading chip.

I'm not high on either of these backs only because their schedule is really tough. I would try and trade up to Ryan Grant or Brandon Jacobs. With the Packer's oline struggling theyll have to run the ball alot more than they intend to (which is a good percentage already). Grant has good hands to catch dump offs and seems to be getting the goal-line carries of an elite feature back. His schedule is pretty easy and defenders still have to respect the passing game of the Packers. It's a formula for success.

You might get some replies if you put this under "Roster Ratings". Usually a moderator will come along and move posts to their correct forum. I know its sometimes hard to figure out where to post when you're new here. You'll get the hang of it.

Anyway, welcome! This is an awesome site! As to your question---I think on paper your team looks pretty darn good. Your QB is decent. You have some good WRs, especially Welker for PPR (although not this past week). MJD and Deangelo will get you some points. Good K. Great D. Olsen seems to be a question mark and hopefully Cutler will start to use him a bit more.

Good luck!

And to the OP: I would start Rivers this week, and probably most weeks unless there was a really unfavorable matchup. I agree with some of the others---stick with your studs!

Went with Rivers this week and Ironically am down by the exact difference that Schaub would have made up. (14 points.)...

So this week I've got Rivers v. Pitts and Schaub up against Oak. Right now, I'm leaning Schaub. But, Rivers will have to air it out a lot more against the Steelers, and Houston might be sticking to the run after the 2nd half...I hate this trade.

Opinions?
