Trade Tom Brady/Reggie Bush for Jay Cutler/Ryan Grant? WHIR

Postby Tiki Fan » Wed Sep 23, 2009 10:22 am

I have received this trade offer, in which I would be giving up Brady and Bush. My league counts return yards and TDs (1 point per 20 yards, 6 points per TD - same as for receiving and rushing), so Bush has a little more value than usual (as does Leon Washington, who is currrently my RB2). However, I am still very tempted to do this deal, since I think the upgrade at RB through this deal will outweigh the downgrade at QB. I also now think that Tom Brady is not going to return to anything close to his 2007 levels, so the difference between him and Cutler might not be as severe as one might first think. Does anyone disagree?

It is a 12-team keeper league, which starts 2 WR's and 2 RB's, with a third WR/RB swing spot (the keeper status is another consideration, sicne Brady is non-keepable in the format, but Grant and Cutler are keepable).

This is my roster:
QB: Tom Brady, Trent Edwards
RB: Chris Johnson, Leon Washington, Darren McFadden, Reggie Bush, Ahmad Bradshaw
WR: Calvin Johnson, Marques Colston, Devin Hester, Steve Smith, Joshua Cribbs
TE: Tony Gonzalez, Todd Heap
K: Nate Kaeding
D: Denver

I would appreciate any input. As always, I'll answer any of yours. Just post a link. Thanks.

Tough call, I personally wouldn't do it because I think Brady will come out of his funk but is one of those things that you may look back on and say, I may have lost a bit with the QB switch but getting a potential top 10-15 back in Grant far out weighs it. Grant would look good as your Flex Player. But to give up on Brady so soon would be tough - I wouldn't do it.

Please help with mine.

I'd be really hesitant to give up on Brady after only two weeks. He definitely didn't look the same as he did pre-injury, but that's to be expected. I still believe he'll begin to bounce back fairly quickly, and will put up good number. I think that with the return yards I'd probably just keep Brady and Bush. WIth that scoring system, I think the return yards favor Bush too much.

Brady may not fisnish as the number 1 overall OB - but I still think he finsihes top 3.

Bush, if kept fresh and healthy is going to get his in that offense & in the return game.

With the return bonuses, I like the idea of having 3 legit flex guys who get a handful of backfield touches & return opputunities (Bush, Washington, and I beleive Bradshaw) to plug in weekly based on matchups.

I still like Brady enough that i wouldnt give up on him in this deal, plus your scoring makes Bush more valuable so you should stay put.
