Huge dilemma on my hands, what RB / WR / QB to start? WHIR

Postby Theshow234 » Thu Sep 24, 2009 2:55 pm

Alright guys, I've got a pretty big dilemma on my hands and I really have no idea as to who I should be starting this week. Let me give you my roster:
QBs: Joe Flacco / Carson Palmer
RBs: Stephen Jackson, Kevin Smith, Ray Rice, Tim Hightower, and Cedric Benson
WRs: Randy Moss, Marques Colston, Donald Driver, Patrick Crayton, Eddie Royal, and Steve Smith (NYG)

Were able to start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 1 flex, and 2 WRs. So far, I'm almost positive I'll be starting both Moss and Colston (I'm a bit worried about Colston given he only had 8 targets last week and caught all 8, the week before he had 5 and only caught three). Other than that I'm unsure as to who I should start. I do like Flacco given the match-up, but I feel as though the Ravens are going to be running the ball the entire game and will be succeeding. Palmer is going up against Pittsburgh and I highly doubt they'll be winning this game, meaning Palmer is going to be behind and slinging it downfield for the majority of the game. (quick note, my league doesn't give minus points for interceptions or fumbles). I'm leaning towards Flacco at the moment but still not confident in who to start.

As for my running backs, I'm fairly confident in Jackson even though he is playing the Packers. (Benson racked up 140 yards last week on 28 carries), Smith not too sure about but had a good game last week running the ball 24 times for 85 yards against the Vikings but he is playing Washington this week. Then I've got Ray Rice and the Browns have given up the second most on the ground, about 200+ per game to opposing teams. I'm hating on McGhee however you spell it, but given the opposition I'm kind of liking this match up and have a good feeling he'll be putting up at least 50 yards / 20 receiving yards / a potential score. Then I've got Hightower whos been consistent over the past few weeks, hes looking much better at running the ball than last season and Beanie Wells fumbled the ball twice this past weekend meaning Hightower is most likely going to get the bulk of the carries. Not to mention hes been getting a ton of looks from out of the back field from Warner. O and the Colts have one of the worst rush defenses seeing how they don't have Sanders in. Then I've got Benson, whos the workhorse for the Bengals. The only problem, hes going up against a Pittsburgh defense that is ranked in the top 10 in rush defenses. I'm not too worried about that seeing how they no longer have their star safety but I don't think he'll perform better than a 70 yard performance.

Then I've got my WRs. Moss for me is a must start week in and week out, regardless of the match-up. Colston I'm probably starting but I've got a weird feeling that Steve Smith (NYG) is going to have a huge game against the Bucs defense that is ranked near the bottom for pass defenses. I don't really like Crayton but Driver has been performing well recently, especially given the injury to Jennings which means Driver could put up #1 WR numbers, something to what Jennings did on a consistent basis last year.

Thoughts guys?

I'd go with Flaco only because Palmer is @PIT. RB go with SJax and Smith. Flex is a really tough one. I would probably go with Rice. Hightower and Smith and Driver also look like really good plays.

QB: flacco
RB: Tim Hightower: how did indi do against Ronnie brown last week?
Steven Jackson
flex: idk tuff call, kenny phillips is out for the season so the giants D is really taking some hits in the secondary and on the line: no pressure + inexperienced db=big passing day for tb....so you might wanna go with Steve Smith because the giants may actually need to pass the ball to win the game. however lets not forget that the giants despite the past two weeks are a running team and steve smiths rarely gets looks in the red zone

My QB would be Flacco this week

RBs would be HIghtower first then Jackson ( I think Smith will be a bust this week against the Skins D )

WRs would be as you have them.

Flex would be Driver all day for me .. Jennings is an unknown after last week, but Donald can still play with the best of them. My second choice here would be Steve Smith.

GL and thx for the help

I would go with Flacco at QB, Jackson and Hightower at RB, Moss Colston at WR, and at flex you have a tough call but I would go with either Smith or Hightower who both could have big games and usually I go with the RB in that situation so I would say HIghtower. And thank you for the help with mine.

I would go flacco for qb

for rb i think you have to go Stephen Jackson and I would roll the dice with Hightower and K Smith as your flex

For wr i would go moss and colston but keep an eye out for moss he is on the injury report and i would be prepared to start driver or s smith if moss is out. I'm leaning toward driver because he is more proven but s smith might have a big game again and greenbay seems to play to their opponents level so i don't expect huge things from greenbay.

If your doesn't take away points for turnovers I'm tempted to say go with Palmer...One thing you can be sure of is he will throw the ball a lot more than Flacco will. He put up great numbers against a Green Bay Secondary that is arguably better than the Steeler's. That, and the fact that Benson will do nothing against Pitts makes Palmer the sexier option.

In a 1PPR league, I'd probably go with Rice and Jackson, but anything less I'm going Jackson and Smith, no questions. Smith will be a work horse as always and that means points and more potential for TDs. Benson you sit, I don't know exactly what Hightower's role will be on Sunday (although in a ppr league he is tempting also.) so I'd sit him too. And in non-PPR leagues you know Rice is going to lose TDs unless he breaks a long one.

Randy Moss missed Friday practice so if he does start we'll have no idea how much time he'll play or what he'll do with his time. If I had your squad, I'd be starting Colston and probably Smith. I haven't heard anything this week on the Jennings injury so that tells me that it cant be that bad. I expect Jenning to come back hard this week and Driver proved that he may need a little extra attention from the secondary himself.
