RBs 5 booms 5 busts wk3

Postby 2ksports » Thu Sep 24, 2009 7:52 pm

UPDATE: Removed Knowshon Moreno from booms, Questionable with groin injury.
EMERYGENCY 1hr b4 kickoff update!!! TAKE REGGIE BUSH OUT it's raining in BUF they will rather go between the tackles. New BOOM is LeSean McCoy starting in place of Westbrook.

Booms

Mojo - Houston allowed a measly 100 yards and 2 TDs to Thomas Jones, and proceeded to hold Chris Johnson to a modest 200 yards and 3 TDs.
Felix Jones - 9 yards a carry, 15 carries, 1 TD every 10 carries, Panthers defense allows over 150 yards per game, you do the math.
Ronnie Brown - SD missing a big dude in the middle. Miami will try the Indy strategy again by hogging ball.
LeSean McCoy - Westbrook out
Darren Sproles - Chuck Norris etc.

Busts

Thomas Jones - he's a below avg football player.
Steve Slaton - I don't like Steve Slaton.
Willie Parker - Bungles are not bad at rush defense.
Frank Gore - ankle injury + MIN def.
Joseph Addai - lack of ta- nvm

How can you say that Thomas Jones is a below average player?
A win next week and all is forgotten.

Well...he only seems to always produce no matter where he ends up and what situation he ends up in so it's quite clear that he's a mediocre NFL player at best.

Not the first time a player has been called or all but called 'average' or 'not talented' by 2k :-b :-b

And I quote from Last Weeks 5 BOOMB 5 busts

2ksports wrote:5 booms, 5 busts, 3 reasons each.

Matt Forte
1) bad matchup
2) lacks elite talent
3) they will throw

Joseph Addai
1) lacks talent
2) Miami rush D
3) lack of carries / opportunities

Love it 2k, love it! :-D :-D :-D

Knowshon Moreno - Oakland 3 and outs. opportunity = stats.

These I Absolutely LOVE! hahahaha. Such amazing analysis for these picks to even be posted on the beginners forum! ;-D I'm just loving the 'will be a boom cuz he will get touches' ok what about a pretty good Oakland defense? lol. Sproles 'Boom cuz hes Chuck Norris'? mmmk... TJ 'below average player', hes only averaging 80 and 1 per week so i see what 2K means its below AP's average of 100+ and 2 a week...lol... Slaton definite boom cuz he doesn't like him, ok O:-) ... Lastly just say it 2K taLENT, or lack there of=bust haha... love it 2k just love your such great insight, Funston better watch his a$$!!! ;-D ;-D

Pick explanations:

Parker, Jones, and Addai all have tough matchups, and none of them have that elusiveness that makes backs dangerous to gameplan for (although Parker ran better last week - unfortunately his OLine isn't all that anymore).

Leon Washington was actually RB1A to Jones RB1B last week, so while NYJ have a pretty good offensive line, it's questionable how much he'll be used considering a speedy Leon is the better choice against that TEN defense.

Joseph Addai has a tough matchup too, ARI is one of the better run defenses, and it makes no sense to run when you can pass on them all day. Also factor in that Donald Brown is slowly getting a larger share of the snaps, and you got yourself a situation to avoid for this week.

Steve Slaton actually has a decent matchup this week. I think he's good and all, but I don't like his situation, and Chris Brown is STILL not injured. Kubiak is doing what he's saying he'd do with Brown, so that's cause for concern.

I think all the bust picks will have a hard time scoring touchdowns this week, and they seem like they won't be going for over 100 yards either, making them bust picks (under 10 fps)

Bazzy: Can we take it down a notch? I don't see why anyone would take people's predictions personally. No reason to turd up a thread, just because you disagree. This nonsense is disrespectful, and even if you don't respect dude's insight, you're TROLLING instead of disagreeing.

What if his reasoning is 100% wrong, and his results are 100% right? Week 3... the season is way too young to be on ANYONE'S case for their predictive measures.

For example: IMO Thomas Jones is the definition of underappreciated. He's a solid RB2 who spikes into RB1 numbers more frequently than he dips into absolute bust numbers. He plays through injuries that routinely sideline other RBs. But make no mistake... he's 31 years old, has a CRAP TON of miles on him (so there's no argument that like a Ricky Williams or a Fred Jackson, he's fresher than his age would indicate) and most importantly, he's going up against what is currently ranked as the #2 rushing defense in the NFL this weekend.

So "below average player" may be a worthless insight. But if he's right about his prediction, then it doesn't matter. The odds are that even if your side of the argument is correct, TJones is NOT in for a good week, so what's the point of getting your panties in a bunch?
