Time to take a flier on James Davis?

Postby SameSongNDance » Fri Sep 25, 2009 1:00 pm

Well, papa bear Lewis looks to miss his first game of the season. Right on schedule huh. Granted, they are facing BALT, but is it finally time to pick up Davis? I wouldn't play him obviously, but now could be the perfect time to stash him away. Also, how does Harrison play into this.

I have him just in case. I just want to see how many touches he gets. Jamal Lewis was actually dropped in my league.

Right now Jerome Harrison is expected to start (per most papers/expect speculation) because of his veteran status, however I suspect this could easily be a 50/50 split with the "winner" being the real backup going forward.

I've always thought Jerome Harrison was a solid backup guy, but with Davis I actually expect a lot more. I'm not sure where he is with his blocking however so that might be the real dealbreaker on him this week. Harrison has split 3rd down duties in previous years (with Jason Wright I believe) so the coaching staff is probably comfortable with him there for this weekend.

I own Davis in most leagues but just a precaution. I belive he will be the Cleveland RB by year end but he is dinged up right now. Don't judge his performance this week on what he can do.

If you have room on your roster I would add him. Cleveland has not had much of a running game the first 2 weeks making it very hard on Quinn to be successful. Davis looked very good during the preseason and should be given a shot soon especially with J.Lewis hurting.

I'm hoping James Davis does something soon, because in one of my leagues my RBs aren't that impressive, I got D-Mac and D. Ward. :~(
