In a pickle!

Postby ampant » Fri Sep 25, 2009 10:29 pm

My league has a cap on RBs . . . can't have more than 6 on the roster.

My RBs - ADP, Portis, Addai, LJohnson, Lynch, J Jones

My Problem:

Just released that Portis has bone spurs. :-o Portis was gonna be my rock solid #2 guy all year, and these guys were all just seatbelts. Betts is available. I would like to pick him up just in case, but I would have to drop one of the guys I have now. Don't want to drop Lynch, he has too much talent, regardless of how well FJackson has been playing. LJ is crap so far, but he's a starting RB that gets most of the carries?

Drop Jones? RBBC with Edge and Forsett. Plays in a weak division, but Hasselbeck being hurt wil close the lanes on him. Or do I just nut it out and leave Betts on Waivers so somebody else can scoop him up. Drop Addai? Donald Brown looking like he's gonna take plenty of carries and maybe Addai's job.

Somebody plug in their crystal ball and help me with some kanawledge please!

How many RB's do you start each week? I think you can safely drop Jones. He may pop a long run here and there, but he's pretty much worthless IMO. He's just not gonna be consistent enough for you to have the balls to start him. He certainly isn't as good as, or have the same upside as the other guys on your team. I'd drop him for Betts and not think twice about it.

Absolutely drop Jones! Your other RBs have more upside. By the way what do you think of the Cincy defense?

I agree on the Jones drop. Never been high on JJ, and I think 2008 was an anomaly. The fact that Hass is now hurt (and Hass' injuries have a tendency to be chronic) doesn't bode well since teams will stack the box. Cut and run on JJ.

Thanks for the help on mine.

Yeah Jones may outscore Betts, but you have plenty of depth and Betts will be more valuable to you than Jones will.

Good luck, and thanks for your help on mine.

Thanks for the help. And I 110% agree with other posters here. Drop Julius Jones for Betts. When Betts does get to play, he is pretty good.

I agree that Jones is the drop if you were to drop anybody.

With a cap of 6 RB, and you having a group of guys that are all pretty much universally owned, I would imagine that somebody else out there could use one of those 6.

Another thing to consider is how terrible the Washington offense has looked (outside of Cooley), not saying I would give up on Portis, but it maybe time to temper some expectations if they don't look markedly better @ Detroit on Sunday - and if they don't what's to say Betts can just step in and perform upto Portis's standard?

If Portis manages to put together a big game this weekend - I would really consider selling him at a high value and divorce yourself from the entire situation - he's got a lot of tread on those tires.

All said and done, I would probably end up dumping Jones, but would have a hard time in doing so - simply becuase of the uncertainty of the severity of Clinton's spurs & I know I would be putting a serviceable RB out there for somebody to snatch up for a guy that may never see the field.
