My league doesn't require owners to start a TE so there are a lot of good ones still on the market. Shockey and Celek are both on the waiver wire. I want to trade Miles Austin for one of them. I screwed up and picked Austin in the last round thinking he would be the #2 receiver in Dallas, but Patrick Crayton took that job over. Anyway, which TE do you like better for this week? How about the rest of the season? i love both of them.
Scoring system: 10 receiving yds= 1 pt. every 3 receptions= 1 pt. tds= 6 pts. win= 1pt.
shockey if he stays healthy, the west coast offense, philly's, doesnt use tight ends that much, only reason celek has been doin well is because kolb sucks and has a hard on for him
I was in the exact same situation as you: aren't forced to start a TE, and had to decide between Shockey and Celek.
I chose Shockey, mostly based on his match-up Sunday. The Bills simply haven't been able to cover the tight end this season. Week 1, Ben Watson had 6 receptions (77 yards) and 2 TD's; week 2, Kellen Winslow Jr. had 7 receptions (90 yards) and a touch down in addition to fellow Bucks tight end Jerramy Stevens having 3 receptions (24 yards) and a touch down.
Shockey should find the end zone this Sunday. But with my luck so far, he'll have two catches for 10 yards.
QB: Tom Brady, Andy Dalton RB: Charles, Lynch, Martin, Stewart, DeAngelo Williams, Rashad jennings, Joe McKnight, Leon Washington WR/TE: Antonio Brown, Brandon Lloyd, Randall Cobb, Ted Ginn K: Bryant DST: Bills
Everyone (including me) said Shockey, so of course Celek goes off.
Celek has had a great season, and I expected him to have a down week after having two great weeks to start the season. How wrong I was with advising you to take Shockey, and taking Shockey myself.
In all fairness, Shockey did lead his team in receptions, but didn't find the end zone. I don't think anyone could have foreseen Brees throwing under 200 yards and 0 touch downs against a crummy defense.
