!!! ATTENTION RAY RICE OWNERS !!!

Postby creewan » Sat Sep 26, 2009 11:02 pm

Most of you who are reading this can probably relate. Ray Rice has been giving me headaches all year. McGahee is swiping all his TD's once the Ravens get inside the 10 and last week he actually had more carries. However, I fully expect Rice to have a breakout game this week against the Browns. Last week Baltimore played San Diego who was minus big run stuffer NT Jamal Williams. His absence put a bulls eye right on the interior of their defensive line and the Ravens went to work with McGahee (the better inside runner) for most of the day. This week the Ravens get Cleveland. Not only are they one of the league's worst run defenses (far inferior to San Diego's) but their one bright spot is NT Shaun Rogers. The big guy consistently collapses the CENTER/GUARD gaps, getting penetration seemingly every play whether he is double teamed or not. Look for the Ravens to give the majority of the carries to Rice this week. He is a much better outside runner than McGahee and the Browns horrid run D is most vulnerable on the edges. Rice should have some pretty big holes to run through all day as Baltimore looks to steer clear from big Shaun Rogers.

Don’t give up on him yet. After this week his trade value should be very high but I still recommend holding onto him. McGahee has had a couple solid weeks while playing this year’s Lendale White, but he is still an old man with a very bad knee. The chances of McGahee going down with an injury this year are above average. If that happens, Rice's value will sky rocket! Injury or no injury, Rice will continue to have games where he is featured in Baltimore’s rushing attack, especially once the weather gets colder and the winds pick up. Don't forget also that Rice is one of the best RB's in the league (definitely Baltimore's best) at catching the ball out of the back field, which makes him only more valuable later in the season (especially in PPR formats) when throwing the ball down the field becomes more challenging.

Expect above average rushing yardage and about a 50% increase in his chances of a TD this week against Cleveland.

Projected
18 carries for 97 yards and 0.8 TD
5 receptions for 44 yards and 0.2 TD

Good luck this Sunday!

Thanks for the info....whether he has a big game today or not, I'll still hold. I have Rice and Ward and while the start of the season has not been what I expected, I think their time will come, I play 1 ppr. Caddy has started to feel the effects already and I think the same will happen to McGahee.

Thanks for the encouragement on him as my confidence in drafting Rice was beginning to waver. Please take a look at my link and see if you think I should start Rice at the flex above Boldin, L Evans, or Holmes this week. Actually I have to pick 2 out of those 4.... Rice and Evans are prime to blow up against their matchups but Santonio and Anquan seem like safer choices.

Thx for the $0.02
