Pick up Help Please...WHIR

Postby ColtsFan27 » Sun Sep 27, 2009 7:16 pm

Ok so 16 team Yahoo League.......

I have M. Forte as my starter and currently use K. Smith and Ray Rice in our two flex stops. K. Smith got hurt today (shoudler) and Rice goes against New England next week. My other RB is Hightower but he is on bye next week. So this leaves me with playing Rice vs NE, and Cotchery or K. Walters next week in the other flex spot. My one other option and reason for this post....I could pick up Glenn Coffee right now, (I actually playthe guy that has Gore next week) I would have to drop my back up QB - Stafford. My starter is Shaub and bye isn't till week 10, only problem would be Stafford will proably get picked up by someone else leaving me no known option for Shaub's bye week. I will be 3-0 after this week and am wondering if I should just play a combo of Rice/Cothcery/Walters next week and just keep Stafford, or pick up Coffee virtually guarenteing a win next week, but risk shooting myself in the foot in week 10 with no back-up!

Sorry for the long read, hope it makes sense and you provide your thoughts. :*)

Thanks

I like your idea of picking up Coffee and playing him next week, but in a 16 team league don't like the idea of dropping Stafford. I own Stafford in my 16 team league and with all the QB injuries know that he is a valuable commodity. Would hate to not have any QB points on your starters bye, or god forbid any QB if your starter is injured. Is there anyone else you could drop? No handcuff, or backup RB, or underproducing WR? Sorry, but in a 16 team league I say never drop a backup QB, or you may be stuck starting Henne, or Boller.

I think you have the right idea. You pick up Coffee to get his points and keep your opponent (Gore's owner) from getting him. I just agree with garrett that you should not drop Stafford in such a deep league. There must me someone on your roster that you can cut. So yeah grab Coffee, but not for Stafford.

I think it depends on what type of QBs are out there on the waiver wire. I probably wouldn't do it though. I'm assuming that the only QBs on the waiver wire in a 16 team league are 2nd string, which essentially translates to 0 points in week 10.

However, you want to pick up Coffee, which MAY give you the win, but forces you to take the 0 in week 10. If you end up losing next week, you're doubly screwed. Honestly, Rice/Cotch/Walters are fantastic flex plays in such a big league, and I don't really see the value of making this move. Best case scenario is you clean up this week, but it'll be really tough to win week 10 without a QB.

Help with mine?
