Forte: Buy-Low or Bust?

Postby cheeseball » Mon Sep 28, 2009 1:27 am

So after 3 straight weeks of seriously underperforming his 1st round draft position, I'd like to know if you guys think he should be bought low or written off?

Definite buy low, with Cutler starting to come on, teams wont be able to stack the box as much.

I'm going with BUST. Seriously kicking myself for not going with MJD or Chris Johnson. I don't think Forte is going to even come close to living up to his draft position. I drafted Forte & Portis as my top 2 RB's. Seriously considering starting my last two RB picks next week in Lynch & M. Bush. To add injury to insult, Forte hurt himself on the 11 yard run late in the game.
"Sometime during the Pats game last week, I decided that Tomlinson was the best overall running back of my lifetime. There's nothing he can't do: deadly receiver, tough inside runner, explosive to the outside, you name it." - ESPN's Bill Simmons

Good question. The Bears offensive line has been very BLAH so far and Forte is hitting the hole very hard right now. Plus add in that Cutler doesn't check down to the RB like Orton does PLUS the Bears are spelling Forte a tad more this year (but he still had 21 carries yesterday), equals an interesting scenario...I'm still going to try to buy low on him since the Bears schedule = CAKE, but I can't blame people if they don't believe.

depends on the cost...as 2nd year RB with a new QB there just isnt a whole lot of track record to go on that i'd feel comfortable parting with anyone who's making a contribution to my team

I'd say buy low right now. You have to remember that most of the o-line is still getting a feel for each other with all the new starters there. Obviously it depends on what you are buying him for but if you can land him for something cheap then I go for it, still think he'll have top 10-15 numbers when the season is done so some big games are coming.

I would buy just about anyone low, it's just a matter of how low? Forte was way overrated coming into this season, and while I expect him to do better than he has, he's not a top 5 RB IMO.

I had the third pick this yr and looked at Forte, seems like he has couple of tough matchups in wks. 15-16 (playoffs) Along with some other prob. new QB, only one yr. to go off etc.

Qued up AP, MJD, and then DeAngelo.

Lucky me no.2 went DeAngelo and I got MJD.

So ck. out Forte's playoff matchups before you trade for him.
First the Shock, then the Pistons can the Lions be next?

Well maybe next yr.

PS I didn't lose a paper bag challenge but somehow as a Lion's fan it just feels right.
