Trade Westbrook

Postby jayne_cobb » Tue Sep 29, 2009 11:35 pm

I play in a super huge dynasty league. So every player counts and you do have to consider the future.

I think the time has come to trade Brian Westbrook. I still see him as having a decent year still, but I do feel like this is the end of the line. Ala Eddie George and Shaun Alexander I think he is just a blink away from the end.

So if I were to move him today, what type of value do you think I could get in return.

I am especially looking at names like McCoy and Brown, I'd like to get a litlte younger at RB and I like these 2 guys, any thoughts on what a good trade for Westbrook would be? Straight up? For one of those 2 plust a 1st or 2nd round pick next year?

Or perhaps I am way off, any other names you can suggest I might aim for?

Thanks

Trying to trade Westbrook this summer best offer I could get was a 2nd and a bench player. If you think he will do well this year, you probably have to hold him and ride it out. If you really want to sell you're going to have to aim a lot lower than McCoy and DBrown.

If you want a 1st for him you gotta hope he is healthy in a month when dyno teams start mortgaging their future. At that point someone will be 4-4 and need a #2 RB for the stretch. Maybe you get a 1st at that point straight up.

If you want to trade now I think the best you will get is a backup RB (Charles, Fred Jackson) and a 2nd. Or maybe a guy like M.Bush or Sproles straight up. If that made you puke in your mouth a little bit, hold.

FWIW, RBs that catch balls stay relevant longer. Westbrook could do ok next year too if his knee holds up. That is the big question - the knees - too many surgeries. If he plays next year in Philly I still think he is a #2 in PPR leagues and a high #3 in no-PPR.
