I turned it down because I can't justify giving up two starters for a powerhouse that was just injured, even though its just a sprain + strain. Who knows if Gore will lose rythym or not, plus I don't want to give up two reliable starters for Gore and his backup.
I counter offered him Turner and Steve Smith (carolina). That sounds fair to me... turner has the most carriers and steve smith is the most targeted. They're bound to have some big games.
I'm also thinking about dropping up Jonathan Stewart and picking up Fred Taylor.
Thoughts?
Here's my team...
QB - Matt Schaub, Joe Flacco
RB - Deangelo Williams, Michael Turner, Darren Sproles, Jonathan Stewart
WR - Steve Smith, Calvin Johnson, Anquan Boldin, Antonio Bryant, Pierre Garcin
TE - Antonio Gates
K - Stephen Gostkowski
DEF - Eagles, 49ers
League Format - Standard Scoring - QB, 2xRB, 2xWR, RB/WR, TE, K, DEF
Good Call---whoever you're trading with needs to learn how to make a fair deal. I think Gore is overrated, he's definitely out for 3 weeks, and you have decent depth at RB. If anything, I'd try to get MORE depth at RB, but your team is pretty solid as it stands.
As for dropping Stewart for Taylor, here's what CBSSports.com says:
The Boston Globe reports the Patriots may have found a starting RB in Fred Taylor after his performance in Week 3 against Atlanta. Taylor's 21 carries were four more than he had in the first two games of the season combined, and he finished with 105 rushing yards and a touchdown. Taylor is the Patriots' leading rusher on the season with 38 carries for 176 yards (4.6 yards per carry average). He was asked whether he could handle 20 to 25 carries per game over the course of a season after he was limited to 11 carries per game last season. "Whatever it takes," Taylor said. "Honestly, I've always said I just want to play until the wheels fall off, but I understand how long the season is and this is my 12th year. I understand how important it is to take care of your body - the maintenance, the massage, the chiropractor, acupuncture, whatever you need, you want to make sure you're healthy by the next game. I understand all of that. Whether I can handle it or not, I'm prepared to. So we'll just see how it goes as the season progresses."
I don't like the counter offer. I think you should stay where your at as Turner and Williams are good starters every week. I don't really like Gore but feel he has less potential than Turner or Williams. As far as Stewart or Taylor, its a wash. NE RBs are a major headache. Good Luck.
