I play in a 10-team, PPR league. I have the following roster:
Proposed Starters for Week 5: QB: David Garrad RB: Fred Taylor, Correll Buckhalter WR: Randy Moss, Chad Ochocinco, Roddy White TE: Brent Celek D/ST: 49ers K: Lawerence Tynes
Bench: Tony Romo, Darren McFadden, LaDanian Tomlinson, Darren Sproles, Donald Driver, Antonio Bryant, Vernon Davis
I was offered: Brian Westbrook, Jamal Lewis and Jerome Harrison, and would give up LaDanian Tomlinson and David Garrad
There's a good chance I can pickup Kyle Orton from Waivers this week (I'm picking 3rd) to cover my Garrad loss. Is getting Westbrook and Lewis/Harrison a good enough deal for giving up LT? I'm pretty thin at RB thanks to the bye week and injuries, but I am very strong at WR and TE (good news for a PPR league I suppose). If I can't get Orton from Waivers...there is not much out there in the way of another quarterback and I've lost my trust in Romo (even if he does have the Chiefs week 5). Thoughts, opinions? Would YOU make this trade given this roster? Is the trade dependent on getting a capable QB replacement from Waivers?
hmmm i guess it comes down to whether you feel confident westbrook will stay healthy. i dont think garrard is of much value because i dont see you starting him over romo except for romo's bye. it does increase your depth but i dont know how much you can rely on lewis/harrison since they are in a horrible offense.
my thoughts would be to try to work out a deal not giving up LT. but i am really on the fence with this one
Hmm. Interesting one...Really depends on how you feel about Garrard. I'm completely down on LT for the rest of the year, but Westbrook is really injury prone and I don't rate the Lewis/Harrison combo who will create MORE headaches for you week to week.
Here's what I think you should do....
Keep Garrard (who will be a top 10 RB by the end of the year IMO), and upgrade at RB (with a team deeep at RB) by trading LT and either Ochoconco or Roddy White. You start Driver as your #3WR (who is having a good year) and your new upgraded RB as your #1 back (with with Sproles/Taylor/Buckholter as the #2)
Hope that helps. I just think you need to keep Garrard to be competitive, and Orton is NOT going to do that for you, plus you'll have Romo when he decides not to be a "piece of crap" anymore...
Im gonna say no on this deal brother. The Lewis / Harrison ordeal in Cleveland is not worth dealing with at this point, you dont know when Lewis is gonna come back and im not sold on Harrison just quite yet. LT still has decent value and you may be getting somewhat of an upgrade with Westbrook, but do you really want to watch every run he has knowing whether or not this may be his last? With Romo playing like a tool and Dallas just playing like crap in general, I wouldnt drop Garrard and count on Orton, Orton will have his good games, but imo, he will have his bad aswell. Its only time enough before he starts throwing those Ints =P. Good luck brother
Thanks for the feedback. I decided it wasn't worth it to lose LT and Garrad. Lewis/Harrison is not something I'm interested in. And I need Garrad too much with Romo sucking. I made a counter-offer: Roddy White and Darren McFadden for Brian Westbrook. We'll see if that flies. We've gone back and forth a bit, and he's clearly interested in trading away Brian Westbrook...the question is what I can risk giving up to get him. I can risk a WR clearly, and then IMO I can stand to lose either of these three: McFadden, Taylor or Buckhalter. I figured McFadden has the best upside once he gets healthy.

Good move. I still think LT could be useful after the bye.
Yes I think that is a good tactic. If he's trying to offload Westy you may be able to low ball him abit, but he should be pretty tempted by Roddy and Run DMC (even though he's injured...)
I'd do it, but counter without Jamal Lewis. He is TOAST. Horrible RB. If Harrison was hurt I wouldn't even start him. Take the deal, LT is done too and Westbrook is on a potent offence and showed last year that when healthy, even if NOT at 100% he can still put up a huge week.
