Tom Brady & Thomas Jones for LT & Steve Smith (NYG)

Postby jnmiller » Wed Oct 07, 2009 1:55 am

I was offered his Tom Brady and Thomas Jones for my LT and Steve Smith (NYG).

If I was in dire need of a QB I would do this in a heart beat. Not saying Brady isn't a better option than Schaub, I am just afraid that if I get rid of LT and Smith, I will really be in trouble with my available RB's and WR's.

Wanting to know what you guys would do. Would you accept the trade then try moving either Brady or Schaub for a upgrade at RB or WR, or would you hang on to LT and Smith and roll the dice with Schaub at QB for the season? We start essentially 3 RB and 3 WR since we have 2 flex spots (WR/TE and WR/RB). This means that I would be really limited in who I start each week if I made the trade.

10 team league. Non-PPR. TD's 6 pts.

My team:
QB: Schaub
RB: LT, Kevin Smith, Moreno, McCoy, Ward
WR: Andre Johnson, Boldin, Smith (NYG), Britt
TE: Daniels
K: Akers
DEF: Philly, Denver

His Team:
QB: Eli, Brady
RB: Chris Johnson, Thomas Jones, Rice, Fred Jackson, Bush
WR: Desean Jackson, Santana Moss, Vincent Jackson, Knox, Jones
TE: Lewis
K: Longwell
DEF: SF

wow, tough one. take ur time on this one.

I traded for LT, and its weird, its like a mystery whether or not this guy is gonna perform again or not. I believe he will. It was just his first game back from injury, and it was the Steelers, inspired Steelers! Tough as you can play against Steelers!

And Steve Smith, although maybe you added not drafted him, he is a TRUE find, and I think here to stay. Hes atop the Fantasy world for WRs.

Whos your backup QB? Do you have one?

You are probably in the same boat regardless. I for one am not sold on LT returning to even 50% of his performance in years past. He's past his prime and on the downslope of his career. Getting a player like Brady for him is a good deal for you. I would try to get Rice instead of TJ first, but I might do it either way, simply because I see LT as a low-end RB 2.

No backup QB. Just planned on looking for a plug and play when Schaub has a bye. I know it's risky with Schaub's injury concerns, but that is how the draft went.

Yeah, Smith was a freebie out of the FA pool. I think your right about him being legit.

In fact I am more concerned about losing him than I am LT. I wasn't very high on Thomas Jones going into the season, and have a feeling him and LT are going to end up with similar numbers.

I thought about Rice too, but I am unsure wether his current level of production will continue.

If you did the deal you'd have to shop Schaub around. You said you start 3 WRs, and dealing Smith would leave you with AJ, Boldin, and Britt. Unless there are solid WRs in your FA pool I would be worried about starting Britt every week.

I see LT and Jones pretty even now, and I do see getting Brady as an upgrade over losing Smith. I just think you'd have to deal Schaub for a stud WR or a RB/WR combo. All in all, that probably wouldn't be a tough thing to do.

Good luck, and please see mine:

There isn't many WR's available on FA/Waivers, but Dwayne Bowe and Earl Bennett were just dropped. Other than those 2, the available WR's in FA are pretty thin. I have the number 1 waiver priority, so would picking up Bowe make this trade worth it for me?

Thanks for everyone help.

You already have Schaub no real reason to trade for Brady in my opinion. Your team looks great as is no need to tweek it. Thanks for the help with mine
