I'm thinking of using my #3 ww priority to drop Shiancoe and add Vernon back to my roster. Worth it... or is TE too deep to bother this year?

Guy needed to be owned before his 3 TD day yesterday. You want him.
On that fantasy show on espn on sundays before the games one of the guys was recomending everyone to bench VD this week because HOU's D was the #1 D vs TE's. He was recomending picking up some guy on KC Clark I think his name was and said he was playing him this week over VD because SD's D gave up a lot of points to the TE.
This Jack@$$ was so convincing I considered it but I did some reseach and noticed that of all the teams Hou had played none had a very good TE that was heavily involved in their offense. So I rolled with VD:)
Wonder how many people listened to that guys advice. According to the site my league's on he's only started in like 36% of the leagues.

I listened to his advice. I had VD on my team and quickly dropped him for Shiancoe, hoping for a TD or two from him. Big mistake... used my WW priority to get Davis back and I'm just gonna keep him for the rest of the year barring injury. I'm sure now Shiancoe will blow up and I'll kick myself once again... lol.

I don't know about Davis going forward. It just doesn't make sense what he is doing right now. I understand the guy is a much improved pass catcher. The guy has always had dominant physical ability and characteristics. What I don't understand is how defenses keep letting him get into the endzone.
The guy has scored all of his TDs on the same exact play. Every single TD is a little lob right over the head of the LB/S in the seam. And right now, it seems like that is really the only play the 49ers offense has going for them right now. The running game hasn't done anything since Gore went out over a month ago. Hill has looked like crap. Smith comes in and plays ok, but outside of those TDs he looked hit and miss. Why not just keep a safety over the top of Davis and force the offense to do something else. That's what worries me going forward. Nothing else has worked for the Niners O and you have to believe that some DC out there is going to watch the tape, put in a designed coverage package and take that away in the near future. And since this is a copycay league...

Well I believe it's much easier said than done. In the RZ, if you keep a safety over the top than you're possibly leaving Crabtree with man coverage. You throw in an extra DB to take care of VD and Crabtree and you leave the box open for Gore. Why are you so pessimistic about your teams O going foward, you should be happy offensive weapons are emerging. You should hope they game plan for VD thus opening the game for SF's other skill players.
Fun facts...
- Vernon has had 53%(9 out of 17) of his teams RZ looks, easily leading all receivers.
- A TE hasn't led the league in TD's at this point since 2002(Tony Gonzalez had exactly 6 TD's entering week 8)

I've seen bits and peices of the Niners this year thanks to the RedZone channel this year. From what I've seen Vernon is pretty much open just about every pass play but often time's theres too much pressure on the QB.
Hes for real and the reason I believe that same play keep's working and will continue to work is because if you put a LB on him he's just to fast for the LB and if teams decide to put a CB on him hes to big and physical and will come down with the rock even if the coverage is there. Just like Gonzo and Gates.
Vernon was my plan D at TE glad hes finaly living up to his potential.
