Bye issues next week, WHAT SHOULD I DO? WHIR WHIR!!!!

Postby JaysFan » Thu Oct 08, 2009 7:14 am

I'm really trying to figure out what I should do with this squad. I'm 2-2 and in 7th place out of 12 (top 8 make the playoffs). Next week I have Hill, Bess, Garcon, Brown, Choice, Mathis and Justin Smith on byes. Now, I can probably drop Smith and I GUESS Choice (though I'd love to keep him) but that's still going to leave me with one open spot, likely will leave the DT slot open.

That being said, I like my team but don't love it.

PUT YOUR GM HATS ON HERE AND TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD DO TO IMPROVE THIS SQUAD??? Be specific in examples of SELL HIGH players on my team and some examples of BUY LOW players on other teams.

You may want to consider putting up Jennings or Boldin for auction. You may be able to get a mid level receiver and upgrade your flex at the same time. Look for some of the break out players like sims walker.

Tough spot to be in, but I'd be careful about shaking up your roster too much just for one week. You might cost yourself more in the long run. I'm actually expecting Jennings to turn it around after his bye week, so hang on to him a little longer. Maybe you can find another owner with Bye issues, and make a trade that fixes both of your problems. Don't trade them back afterwards, though, obviously that's collusion. But there's nothing wrong with a one-time trade if it helps both of you.

Thanks for helping on mine.

This is a tough one. But i agree with guy above that Jennings should turn it around. I would try and move Boldin because Warner is pretty old and getting hit often and there is no guarantee with those "Leinart looks more polished than ever" rumors. You could make the same arguement with Rodgers getting hit often too, but overall Jennings is the #1 target compared to Boldin in their respective offenses.

Thanks for helping me.

I also agree, don't get too hasty for 1 week whenthe ramifications could cost you several. I agree that jennings has great upsde and look for him to turnit on here soon, so I'd hold onto him...for now..

I would try and unload Boldin and Smith...in that order... to another owner if possible to see wat you can get in return to help, but I wouldn't sell too low.

I agree you can drop choice...though he is the starter this week, once jones comes back he won't be to serviceable. I'm sure you allready knew that, but it helps to hear it from others. I think the perfect sell high candidate right now is pierre garcon. Once gonzalez gets back, garcon will be abismal. Collie will own the slot spot and you wont see garcon. I might also try to pick up massaquoi if he is available. I heard him and anderson were working together in the off season to build a rapport with eachother. (same as anderson and edwards did in the 2007 offseason) we all know how that worked out. good luck...here's my ? viewtopic.php?f=18&t=453429

With all those starting spots, you look spread really thin (especially for a 12-team league). Which makes me think there isn't much good on the WW - which makes holding on to all your guys essential. 8 out of 12 teams making the playoffs is awfully generous. Biting the bullet in week 5 wouldn't be the worst thing - a record around 0.400 sounds like it'll get you to the playoffs. If you can swing a trade, try to dump the guys who might be scoring now but maybe not in the future. Choice, Garcon. If you can get top dollar for Steve Smith I'd do it - otherwise hold on to him. Don't sell anyone for a discount - unfortunately for you, your "stars" aren't doing that great so I don't know if you'd get a good price for them. It's hard to suggest buy lows - that's the whole league, and there are entire threads devoted to just that topic.

How valued are the IDPs? I know in my IDP league, you can drop them and easily pick up a decent replacement for all but the top scorers at those positions.

Think you can have some more players lol. I dont know much when it comes to Defense because I have never done it. But strictly on a 12 team ppr reg settings you have strong wrs you can play the wait and see game and hope Addai gets hurt and then you have a solid chip in Brown but right now your #2 rb is weak as hell. If you trade Boldin/Jennings you have a shot at getting a good #2 in return. If you sell SS2 you are selling a gamble which could blow up in your face or someone elses face depending on what he does and what the player your getting in return will do. My advice is keep reading the Cafe post keep pluggin the WW and try to trade a wr. thanks for the help with mine
