Vincent Jackson Out, Which 3 WR to start?

Postby paroxsitic » Thu Oct 08, 2009 8:28 am

Vincent Jackson has a bye week, and I have a weak WR bench so I am trying to decide of these 3 who to start. I will put ESPNs projections in brackets.

Mohamed Massaquoi [5]
Steve Breaston [5]
Justin Gage [2]

First, pay no attention to the projections. They're rarely right.

Massaquoi - Sneaky sleeper this week especially with Anderson behind center
Breaston - Healthy Fitz and Bolden limit his opportunities
Gage - Another sneaky sleeper but he has Collins tossing the ball and he clearly prefers Nate Washington, especially near the goal line..

Of the 3, I'd take Massaquoi..

From those 3 I'd go Massaquoi. He's emerged as a primary target, so he'll get the most looks. Breaston and Gage can both break one, but they probably won't get as many opportunities. Plus BUF is pretty soft, Massaquoi should catch several.

Hope that helps, I could use some help with mie as well:

I'd go with Breaston in what I think is going to be a high scroing affair.

The rookie (who's name I'm not going to try and spell) had 1 good game & Gage is just a guy IMO.

Breaston here. He has put up 10+ pts in his last 2 games. And he may be returning kickoffs w/ Stephens-Howling out this week.

The HOU/ARI game should be a very high scoring game w/ lots of passing. He should be in line for 80+ yds and possibly a TD.

Massaquoi is all hype at this point. Remember Manningham? Bennett? Morgan? C. Henry?

The only thing Mass has going for him is that he is now the numero uno in CLE. That doesn't instantly make him a must start though.. the Browns blow hard (see STL).

2.3, 0, 1.8, and then a fluke game of 19.8 pts does not mean a player has emerged. Just my 2 cents.

RB - S. Greene, Forte, Stewart, F. Jones, Sproles
WR - Moss, Megatron, NYG Smith, Floyd, M. Williams (TB)

You're correct. However, let's not forget that he had Quinn throwing the ball during his 2.3, 0 and 1.8 games and with Anderson now the QB, he puts up 19.8. Anderson clearly has no problems going downfield and is targeting the rookie.

I still say Massaquoi

I got 2 Massaquoi, 2 Breaston and 1 Gage (Friend offline)

Hopefully I can hear from some more people

Is Breaston the safe pick? Whereas Massaquoi might have a breakout again?

Yahoo Sports does say that Massaquoi is more favored to start, but they are basing is probably gonna do good like last week. Whereas Breaston is based on he will probably not be great, because of the other 2.

My vote would be for breston. I agree with the statement that it will be high scoring. He has the better chance to get intot he end zone.
