big trade, need advice

Postby bbalevic23 » Fri Oct 09, 2009 5:40 pm

2 part question here.

I am the commish of my league and one of the members was tanking his team early but never admitted to it (long story). to make it short, I asked Yahoo to replace him and give his team to a friend of mind whom nobody else in the league knows but me.

That said, my friend (Phil) doesnt like his team a whole lot. He does have 3-4 very good players (AP, Calvin, Wayne and Ocho). Since we start up to 3 running backs and he has one, he wants to trade for some rbs and give up some wr's.

He offered me a great trade, which I will post below. My first question is- will it be suspicious if I do the trade with my friend after just inviting him? I mean, we are all friends in this league, but so many others love to point fingers and as the commish I have to watch out. The trade was proposed to me though. Second question, should I accept the trade? Thanks.

I get: Adrian Peterson (Vikings) and Calvin Johnson

I give: Matt Forte and Steve Slaton

(he also said if I didnt want Calvin, he would give me Reggie Wayne instead)

My team-

10 team league h2h redraft. all tds are 6 points with 20 yards per point rush/rec and 40 yards per point passing.

QB Tom Brady
WR Randy Moss
WR Wes Welker
RB Chris Johnson
RB Matt Forte
TE Todd Heap
W/R Steve Slaton
BN Jay Cutler
BN Carnell Williams
BN Jonathan Stewart
BN Mario Manningham
BN Glenn Coffee
BN LeSean McCoy
BN Shaun Hill

Thats a great trade for you...but very lopsided. You definatly get the better end of the deal...way better. Morally i dont think you can take it. If anyone finds out the sircumstances of your trade it could put u under heavy fire by the rest of the teams.

In the end its up tp you but i think it looks very suspisious and i would object it if i was in your league.

just curious as to how its lopsided? AP is the top rated player and Forte is a top 3 player given where he was drafted to start the season. He is coming along. Calvin was a second round player while Slaton was a borderline first. Slaton broke out last week. How is this lopsided?

Should I ask for reggie wayne instead?

Cant do this trade, and frankly it does appear to be collusive. I also wonder how you have 5 first and second round picks on your team? Bunch of chumps in this league?

QB's McNabb, Palmer,
RB's DWill, M.Barber, P.Thomas, J.Stewart, L.McCoy,
WR's Jennings, V.Jackson, L. Evans, Burleson, Sidney Rice
TE's Celek
K's Akers, Prater
D Baltimore, 49ers

Venus, I appreciate the post. However, no disrespect, it really doesnt matter how I got this team. How is the trade looking collusive? The guy needs what he needs.

would be asking for wayne instead of calvin be better?

it is lopsided if you look at talent and not the way they were drafted. Everyone thought matt forte would breakout even better than last year with cutler in it, but they only got better with the pass and less with the run. Same goes for houston, as matt schaub is finally getting in his grove pass wise. AP is the *BEST* rb in the league and (i say u get reggie wayne) but Reggie wayne and CJ is top 3 wr in the league. Even if u choose calvin johnson, dude is a beast. Look at his numbers from last year with no qb, and a 0-16 team...

As the dude said above, you get the better end of the deal and some of the people in the league will probably vote against it.

That won't help your case. I suggest showing us your friend's roster to show us why he would give up the best rb and a top 4 wr for two high pick-underperforming rbs.

thanks fellas. I will post his team below, but let me ask you this- what if I counter offered and gave him Mario Manningham for his Chester Taylor? do a 3 for 3 deal? any better? Since his team is middle of the pack right now, he said everyone is on the trading block including peterson. His words were: I need running backs. heres his team.

QB Ben Roethlisberger
WR Reggie Wayne
WR Calvin Johnson
RB Adrian Peterson
RB Sammy Morris
TE Jason Witten
W/R Chad Ochocinco
BN Ricky Williams
BN Donald Brown
BN Willie Parker
BN Darren Sproles
BN Donovan McNabb
BN Chester Taylor

well if you want it to be fair so maybe no one becomes suspicious, this is what i would do if i was in your place.

I get AP, Reggie wayne

he gets matt forte, steve slaton, and Mario Manningham (or if u wana give a rb instead)

way i look at it is, you'll be playing randy moss, chris johnson, AP, Reggie wayne REGARDLESS of who they go against unless its bye week so no point having that many back ups. You can keep subbing that w/r for either wes welker or a rb.
