Dynasty deal involving Turner,Barber,Colston+ Others. WHIR!

Postby clarkw267 » Tue Oct 13, 2009 5:01 am

I've been offered a deal in my dynasty league. My team is 2-3, and I'm not feeling good about my chances this year. Should I accept this deal and build towards the future with Mendenhall?

The deal is this:

I get: M. Barber, M. Colston, R. Mendenhall

I give up: M. Turner, B. Edwards, 2010 1st round pick

I'd try and deal Barber after I got him and I'm high on Mendenhall because Willie Parker is all but gone after this year... should I make this move??

My Team
QB - Schaub
RB - Turner
RB - Jacobs
WR - Fitz
WR - B. Edwards
WR - Hester
TE - Keller
K - Rackers
DEF - NYG
BN - Sanchez
BN - Ricky Williams
BN - S. Morris
BN - S. Rice
BN - N. Washington

Well Turner has the upside over Barber. Colston I like him in a dynasty over Edwards, but there isn't that huge a difference here. Mendenhall for a first round pick favors you providing it won't be a top 3 pick.

Getting MBIII in a dynasty he shares the rock. Turner is a big time back and a tier 2 stud for the next few years.

Colston and Edwards are close in value enough so they can cancel each other out. Colston has more perceived value though. Mendenhall (a proven commodity and a top 10 dynasty RB) clearly has the advantage over a first round pick because you don't know where that wil end up. I hate to say it, due to the downgrade at RB, I would turn this one away because its too soon to give up ship. Besides this deal isn't justified if your rebuilding exception maybe Mendy.

I'd definitely look to move Barber.. most likely for a pick. The only reason I'm considering this is Mendenhall. I think he's the man in Pittsburgh next year, and Turner is on pace for another season with a ton of carries.

i don;t think i would do it, edwards has already performed in new york after being there for like 3 days, so he is showing huge potential. Turner is starting too turn it on this year, and should keep it going.
I still don't think mendenhall is all he is made out too be, he had 2 good games because i think people are expecting the steelers running game too be weak and are preparing for the pass game. if he keeps performing like he has been though i guess that may not be true. Barber seems too be kinda risky this year, he has already sat lots of games, and when he isn't hes sharing with choice anyway.

Much of this depends on where your draft pick falls. I think it is pretty obvious that Turner is the better rb than MBIII. I do like Colston better than Edwards, until he proves he can catch the ball than I'm still not that high on him. Now it is down to Mendy and the draft pick. I think right now Mendy has shown that he can carry the load and next year he will be the main man in Pitt, but where will your pick fall? To me your teams looks pretty solid and it looks like you should be able to make a run so it wouldn't be a top 3 pick. I would first counter with a 2nd rd pick and see if he takes that.

i don't think i would make the trade either. barber is always hurt and shares the ball and i personally don't have faith in mendenhall. an upgrade from braylon to colston is good, but braylon looked good yesterday. i guess it ultimately depends on who the 1st round pick would be.
All I know is I know nothing.

If I could flip Barber for say a 1st rounder next year, do you think this would be a good deal?
