Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh rushed past the guys who play the glamour positions and proved you don't have to score touchdowns or toss passes to be the player of the year.

Thanks in large part by a dominant performance against Texas in the Big 12 title game, Suh became the first ever player from the defensive side of the ball voted The Associated Press College Football Player of the Year on Tuesday.

Suh added the honor to a list that includes the Bronco Nagurski and Chuck Bednarik awards - both rewarded to the best overall defensive player - and the Lombardi, and Outland trophies which are awarded to the nation's best linemen.

Man if this guy somehow falls down the draft board to Cleveland I'll wet myself. O:-)

He won't get past Detroit. There's no way. DT is the biggest (arguably, but IMO) need we have.

Suh's best chances at NFL stardom might be at DE. He's got the speed and the size for it, but he's not overly bulky for a DT. He's not going to toss NFL Centers and Guards around like he did in college.

We'll see what kind of bulk he puts on in the offseason.

I was thinking the exact same thing the other day watching some of his highlights. Has this been brought up by analysts? I'd love to see him stay at DT though.

Even though they lost Suh, I think the Huskers are back. The N will now stand for two things: NCAA football and Nowledge. :-D

Aquaman, don't think it is a lock that the Lions will take Suh. I already read beat writers comments about him being small. Those dude live on the scraps thrown to them by the Lions FO. Could be they are trying to make a case for not drafting Suh. (If that is the case I hope they are smart enough to realize they could trade that pick down should the Rams opt for someone else at #1. Maybe they could get a later #1 and a 2 and draft a TE Hernandez...oh wait, they already took a TE who has no chance at being as good as Hernandez :-P )
