new to FF ..12 team H2H non-ppr , rushing yards = 20 per point, passing td = 6, (other stats = standard yahoo)
my lineup/bench:
QB: Brees vs NYG WR: Jennings vs DET WR: R.White vs CHI WR: Holmes vs CLE RB: Mendenhall vs CLE RB: K.Smith @ GB TE: Celek @ OAK W/T FLEX: Hester @ ATL W/R FLEX: P.Thomas vs NYG K: Feely vs BUF DEF: Washington vs KC
Bench: Garrard vs STL McGhahee @ MIN O.Daniels @ CIN R.Bush vs NYG Ginn Jr BYE Dallas BYE
some Free Agents available: Seattle defense (vs ARI), Beanie Wells, Fred Jackson, San Diego defense (vs DEN), Tampa Bay defense (vs CAR)
my Questions:
1. Am i playing the right RB's - Mendenhall, Kevin Smith, Pierre Thomas over Reggie Bush and McGahee ? 2. Do i consider playing Garrard's great matchup over Brees vs giants? 3. Should i pickup Seattle or another defense and play them instead of Washington's D? 4. Is it right to sit Daniels @ Cin (could play him over hester or thomas at Flex positions) 5. anyone i should add/drop? 6. do you ever go with your gut on a nutty idea?? (like i have a hunch Reggie Bush will do good this week)
1. yes. reggie bush has sporadic production, and it's not a great matchup. if your gut is screaming to start him, i'd put him in over thomas, but i think you gotta go with the guy who will get more touches and goal-line work. 2. brees is a must start over every other QB in the league not named manning IMO. his potential is just too great, regardless of the matchup. garrard had a great opportunity last week at the seahawks. what did he do with it? 3. i don't like WAS this week, i think KC is finding a groove and may beat them. seattle is a rather poor choice as it faces arizona's explosive O. i might consider picking up the jags D against STL. 4. i like hester's chances to score this week, leave him in. 5. dump that dallas D and get beanie wells. 6. yes, and it works out about 1/3 of the time. i think my gut sucks.
1. Leave your Rbs. 2. Brees..all week, every week... 3. Actually, considering the waiver wire, I would play tampa def this week...if thats the best you have out there... 4 Sit daniels.
I think your good after that.and yes I have gone with my gut before..but not suicidally so...you cant play a game winning or losing hunch withiut some quantifable stats to back up your theory.

1. The first few weeks of the season, McGahee was a TD hawk, he only got 30 yards last week with no TDs, and has a tough matchup against MIN, i say sit him 2. Gotta start Brees, He will put up a consistent 10-15 points against the giants (although he had a bad performance against the bills), and (as seen last week) garrard can have some extremely off days. I'd say start Brees 3. I'd go with TB defense as well, as far as all of those match ups are concerned 4.Deff. go with P.Thomas over Daniels/Hester 5.I would actually drop Bush for F.Jackson, Jackson has had more points this year and reggie only has 1 TD all year, id go with jackson because the Bills backfield looks more stable than the Saints backfield, and the Saints dont rush much 6. Ehh this is a tough one, i think P.THomas will get more work, and the Gianst have awesome run D, IMHO i would sit reggie
1. I think your playing the right RBs. McGahee's kind of a toss up. How often does BAL end up near the goal line? I think I'd risk seeing how many touches Parker takes away from Mendy vs. CLE before I risk seeing if McGahee can grab a couple of TDs @ MIN. Bush just isn't startable compared to the others IMO. Not unless you have a strong feeling for when he's going to have a big game. If you decide to go that route, I'd drop Hester for him.
2. I think so. It's a great matchup. The Rams can't stop anything. Brees is going against one of the top pass Ds in the NFL.
3. Can't say I like any of them. I'd stick with WAS out of those options. You have to go with your gut though. If you don't like WAS, out of the 3 you listed I'd go with SD. It's a Monday night game coming off of a bye week. I think they beat DEN. I was rewarded on my gut feeling about Seattle last week. I dropped them ASAP this week though. ARI has the weapons to expose them. TB is just awful.
4. I like Hester's chances better this week.
5. I wouldn't drop anyone you have for those FAs you listed. Bush, Dallas D, and Ginn are droppable, but I'd rather have Dallas' D around than having to choose between the likes of WAS, SEA, SD, or TB. I'd also rather have Bush or Ginn than Wells or FJax. I'd hold off and wait for some better options to become available. With having to start 8 W/R/Ts a week and only 6 bench slots, I would think you would see some people drop some better options to cover their byes.
6. I don't for my RBs or WRs much, but that might be why I've been starting the wrong people this year... For K, DEF, or TE, I do all the time.
1. yess 2. start brees every week! 3. washington or tampa's D would work. either one would be fine 4. start thomas and hester 5. you should get beanie wells in my opinion, in case he busts out later in the year. i dont see the point in carrying two defenses so i would drop one 6. yes but i dont think bush will do well this week
1.yes 2. HELL NO - Start Brees 3.no 4.leave hester 5.roster looks fine 6.dont do anything silly, your roster looks solid. DO NOT trust Reggie Bush. just look at pierre thomas' numbers EXTREMELY CONSISTANT. Reggie Bush EXTREMELY INCONSISTENT
thanks for the help 1. yes Mendenhall, Kevin Smith, Pierre Thomas are the right choices 2. Brees should be in your line-up every week 3. I would stick with Wash @ home. Seattle has their hands full with Arz. Tampa Bays offense turns the ball over a lot, sometimes deep in their own territory putting more pressure on their defense. 4. I like Hester & Thomas over Daniels 5. I would drop Dallas and get Jackson in hopes of him still getting enough touches to produce. He has Carolina & Houston coming up who both suck at stopping the run. 6. For me, it doest matter if I go with my gut or not. Usually if I start a player, the one on the bench out produces him.

Thanks for the help with mine.
1. I think so. I feel like Reggie Bush is not that consistent and McGahee is up against Minnesota. If anything, Rice will get more carries that game.
2. It seems like a tough decision because the Giants are rolling and Garrard has a very positive matchup, but Brees is a monster fantasy QB. I can't imagine not starting him.
3. Seattle's D against Arizona is probably not going to turn out well for you. TB showed some offensive promise last week against Dallas, but I would still stick to Washington's D. Kansas City is not consistent enough, they will probably turnover the ball at least once or twice.
4. I would leave this one as is.
5. The free agents available in your league aren't looking very appealing. I would keep what you have. Definitely don't drop Dallas. Bush, eh, he's not great, but based on your other options, you need to keep him around for tough bye weeks. You could drop Ginn for Jackson if you want another RB, but Jackson has been relatively useless lately.
1. Am i playing the right RB's - Mendenhall, Kevin Smith, Pierre Thomas over Reggie Bush and McGahee ? Yes, you are starting the right players at RB.
2. Do i consider playing Garrard's great matchup over Brees vs giants? Never bench your studs. You must start Drew Brees for the rest of the season, no matter the matchup. How can you even consider benching him for David friggin Garrard.
3. Should i pickup Seattle or another defense and play them instead of Washington's D? Washington D has a good matchup against the Chiefs. Seattle has to play the explosive Cardinals. Start Washington. Every game they've been in this year have been relatively low-scoring.
4. Is it right to sit Daniels @ Cin (could play him over hester or thomas at Flex positions)
Whatever you do. Do not sit Pierre Thomas. Daniels or Hester? It's a tossup
5. anyone i should add/drop? It depends on who's available in free agency. Not a big fan of Dallas' defense. And I really don't think you will need Garrard.. ever. People seem to be consumed with the idea that you have to have a backup QB... no you don't. Not if you have Drew Brees. The only reason to have one is for Brees' bye week, and since Brees got his bye week over with, he'll be your starter from here on out... unless he gets hurt, you will have absolutely no use for Garrard. Everyone can always use more productive RBs and WRs, so if there are some worth a look, Dallas D and Garrard would be the first to go.
6. do you ever go with your gut on a nutty idea?? (like i have a hunch Reggie Bush will do good this week)
Bush could have a productive game any Sunday, but there's way too many Sundays where he doesn't do squat. I wouldn't roll the dice since you have other solid options.
QB - Drew Brees, Tony Romo RB - Adrian Peterson, Trent Richardson, Alfred Morris, Jacquizz Rodgers WR - Brandon Marshall, Julio Jones, Vincent Jackson, Anquan Boldin, Golden Tate TE - Heath Miller DEF - Rotating K - Justin Tucker
