Megatron for LT???

Postby tjdoren » Thu Oct 15, 2009 8:30 am

Should I trade Calvin Johnson for L.Tomlinson? At face value, it doesn't look like a good trade for me. But considering I have lousy RB's, CJ has a mysterious injury that will probably keep him out for 2+ weeks (counting the bye), and LT already had his bye...I'm considering it. Plus, LT has at least 4 great matchups through week 13 (CLE, OAK, and KC twice).

Our waiver wire is always thin on RB's, but I can probably pick up a decent WR/TE once in awhile.

My roster:
QB: Schaub, Ryan
RB: Slaton, L.Johnson, M.Bell, Buckhalter, F.Jackson
WR/TE (we play them as a flex): Calvin Johnson, Jennings, Witten, Roy Williams, Massaquoi (EDIT...I can trade Witten or Roy for Royal or Berrian)
D: Broncos
K: Kasay

Well here is the problem if you trade for LT. You have two quality rb's then and LT will be a quality #2 for you. So if you then need to start Jennings, Witten and Roy, that puts you into a tough spot. First Roy was hurt and hasnt' done much all year long, plus you are starting two players from one team at your wr/te position. With there running game they both could easily have off games which could really hurt you. I would look to add one of them to the mix and try and get another wr/te in return from him.

If I swap out Witten or Roy for Berrian or Royal (via another trade), does my trade for LT look a little better?

From Rotoworld:
Calvin Johnson-WR- Lions Oct. 15 - 12:04 pm et

Calvin Johnson (knee, thigh) and Matthew Stafford (knee) both missed Thursday's practice.

It's not looking like either one will play. Johnson watched practice while in a warmup suit and Stafford wasn't even there. Expect Daunte Culpepper to be under center with Dennis Northcutt and Bryant Johnson as his main receivers. The Week 7 bye is coming at a good time for the Lions.

How does that news factor into my trade decision? I should have mentioned...I'm only 1-4. If I lose the next two weeks while CJ is out, then I'm probably done for the year.

I pulled the trigger. Megatron and Roy Williams for LT and Berrian. I'm probably and idiot, but hey...desparate times call for desparate measures. I was probably looking at being 1-6 in two weeks if I did nothing, so at least I have a chance to win the next two games. If I get lucky, then I'll be 3-4, with an outside shot at a playoff run.
