It sounded to me that Irvin thought they were talking about hockey and that he confused the Stanley Cup with the Grey Cup.

well hockey is 10 TIMES the sport that football will ever be.....
Hockey takes talent, skill, and athleticism. Don't see many 350 slobs playing hockey.

1. Who cares about Canada? They are weak.

2. Who cares about the Grey Cup? Doesn't Lawrence Phillips
play there?

3. Hockey sucks too. Nobody cares about it. Look at the shape
the NHL is in. Nobody cares outside Canada and Russia.

4. If 1-0 or 0-0 scores are athleticism and skill, you can keep
hockey up in Canada where it belongs.

Dont be jealous cause the USA lost in the olympics.

I'm not bitter because I couldn't care less about hockey let alone USA hockey. Who the hell is Bret Hull anyways? Is he a good hockey player?

I'm not sure anybody here even watches hockey except for the few highlights on ESPN between and after the football highlights.

Farmer Ted, don't knock hockey just because you don't follow or like it. It is a great sport that has a lot of very passionate fans. Don't blame the sport just because it is hard to market and expensive for kids to play. As far as action goes, it really is hard to beat. It is a true non-stop action team game that has basketball beaten on soooo many levels that I am ashamed that it is the #4 sport in many markets.

Yes, the NHL has screwed itself up with poor marketing, rapid expansion, and Dark Ages owners - cough - Wirtz sucks - cough - but that will probably correct itself soon. Look for a major labor dispute at the end of this agreement and I honestly hope that the league shrinks by about a third, bringing the level of competition up a lot.

Hockey sucks period.

Great sport that has a lot of passionate fans? Yeah, outside of America! Keep it in Canada and Russia where they have nothing better to do anyway. They are the only people who care.

Non stop action team game? No way. It is a team effort to suck and be boring. I will give you that. Basketball, hell even Volleyball, has more action than hockey.

Hard to market? Yeah because it sucks and nobody here cares. Any good parent will influence their kids to play sports that people care about in America.

Expensive to play? That's because the equipment is overpriced so that they can make a profit when they actually sell some of it.

Ashamed about it being #4? Go ahead and be ashamed along with the only other people who care about hockey - other hockey fans.

Go ahead and bring up the level of competition. NOBODY WILL CARE IN THIS COUNTRY.

NASCAR is more popular than hockey.

If you do not like hockey, fine. I don't like NASCAR, but I won't knock it. Do not insult the intelligence of those that disagree with you and the sport of your choice.
