Slaton/Ca. Johnson for Witten/R. Grant

Postby bale » Thu Oct 15, 2009 10:17 am

Heap has a bye week coming up, and Witten would probably start for me anyway. Who knows what is up with Calvin Johnson, and Slaton/Grant seem about even for me. Really, this equals out to a Witten for Johnson trade for me. What are some thoughts on this? Thanks in advance. WHIR.

My team:

10 team league, standard-ish scoring
QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, W/R/T, K

M. Schaub, J. Flacco
A. Johnson, C, Johnson, R. White, A. Bryant, A. Collie
MJD, K. Smith, S. Slaton, Moreno, A. Bradshaw
T. Heap
M. Prater

His team:

Ryan, Edwards
Ward, Washington, Driver, Wayne, Austin, Britt
AP, Grant, P. Thomas, Hightower, M. Bell
Witten, Carlson
GOuld
Yay for Offensive Coordinators!!!

Hmmmm I dont like this trade for you, imho Slaton > grant and Johnson >Witten

Feels like your giving up 2 better players and reaching for a TE here.

I would stay put, or try and trade someone for Dallas Clark if your looking to give up that kind of value for a TE.

Thank you for the response. Only issue with Clark is he will not play as much the last few games due to Indy having a playoff spot secured by then.

With Megatron's knee injury, I'd actually be in favor of this. You get a top TE and Grant/Slaton is a wash in my book.

That's not really accurate about Clark...there's no way ANY team sits guys for any significant part of multiple games to end the year, especially a team that's in line for a first round bye like Indy. If he sits out any part of A game, it will be the last game which doesn't factor into most fantasy leagues.

I agree about the trade though...you're selling REALLY low on the guys you're giving and you're not getting much in return. Grant doesn't have much more value right now than Slaton (if any) and Calvin is worth miles more than Witten.
