Which WR pick up for Emergency Start? WHIR

Postby bstock123 » Thu Oct 15, 2009 1:27 pm

It appears I may need a WR to pick up and start in my 8-team PPR league. I only have 3 WRs, and we start 2. Unfortunately, Megatron and Percy Harvin appear that they may not play this week. Which of the following WRs on the WW would you pick up for a spot start this week (with the potential of keeping them on my roster for the rest of the year)? And, as always, WHIR.

Donnie Avery (@ Jac)
Bernard Berrian (v Bal)
Devin Hester (@ Atl)
Torry Holt (v StL)
Terrell Owens (@ NYJ)
Eddie Royal (@ SD)
Nate Washington (@ NE)

8-Team League (1pt/10rush/rec yards, 1 pt rec, 1pt/25 pass yds, 4 pt TD pass)
Redraft, PPR
Start: 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1 RB/WR flex, 1TE, 1K, 1D/ST

QB: P. Manning, D. Garrard
RB: M. Jones-Drew, K. Smith, P. Thomas, R. Rice, M. Lynch, K. Moreno
WR: C. Johnson, A. Boldin, P. Harvin
TE: D. Clark, K. Winslow
K: K. Brown
D/ST: Pittsburgh

I think Royal would be the best long-term answer. If you are looking for 5-7 points for this week than Holt is almost guaranteed to give you that. Lastly, I think Buffalo will make more of an effort to get TO going, so he may not be that bad.

I would say Royal than TO for long-term if you are looking for guaranteed points every week than Holt.

The choice is between Royal, Avery and TO as I see it. It is still hard to see how much Royal will be involved in Denver but he has the potential to be spectacular. So does Avery but he is on a crappy team. TO appears to be over the hill and he isn't developing any form of chemistry with Edwards. I would go Royal...

I'll vote TO. Bad start aside, I still just have a hard time casting aside a preseason Top-15/20 WR that quickly. Behind him, I like Avery against JAX's atrocious pass defense, and then Holt with revenge against the Rams on his mind.
