PPR Dynasty League Trade

Postby RBManiac » Thu Oct 15, 2009 7:52 pm

I have just been offered Vincent Jackson for Mike Sims-walker, and Jeremy Maclin.

Now...I really like vincent jackson, and see him as keeper potential, but the way Sims walker has played in just 3 games putting up nearly as many pts Jackson did in 4 games...it worries me a bit, then Maclin breaks out with a huge game as well...both very young recievers.

Nevermind the rest of my team..i got it all figured out...should i take this..keep in mind the same person has been trying to get sims walker and maclin from me all week, and this is the biggest trade he has offered me.

What should i do?

How deep are you with the rest of the WR corps? Unless you seriously need another receiver, I probably would not take this deal. Rivers to Jackson is a reliable fantasy point maker, Garrard to Sims-Walker is not, and Maclin is still a rookie.

im getting offered Jackson sir.

This is a dynasty league question here. Maclin being a rookie is great, and sims walker is a very reliable fantasy option

if it was my dynasty league and that was offered to me i would take it. msw could be a flash in the pan and maclin is still playing 2nd fiddle to djackson. you know vjax is the #1 guy in sd and he's got a good qb to throw to him.

Sigh, I keep making that mistake of reversing who is getting who (and yes, I feel like an idiot, but that's fairly common anyways). If you have Maclin and Sims-Walker and it is a dynasty league (I really got to start paying more attention), than no, I would not take the deal. Maclin and Sims-Walker have too much upside. (I apologize for that previous post).

I wish there was a more detailed explanation to give, but with Maclin and Sims-Walker, you are dealing with two still relatively unknown players. Sims-Walker is in his 2nd year, and Maclin is in his first, so there's not much to base it off of. Being a dynasty league, they're youth is a bonus, but only if you see them being big receivers. In my opinion, I do see Sims-Walker becoming a good fantasy receiver. Most people don't realize that David Garrard was actually a good fantasy QB last year, and this he doesn't have many targets besides Sims-Walker. On top of this, so far Sims-Walker has proven reliable, and you could see how much Garrard missed him in last week's game.

With Maclin, you just have to go by potential. McNabb threw to him a lot last game, but it's still has been only one game. If it isn't permanent yet, Maclin will soon move into the number 2 position of Kevin Injury Curtis, and that means he is going to get his shot. Whether that turns him into a future great, one can't really know yet, but in my opinion, I think he's in for some good seasons.

What makes this trade so damn difficult is that you have two guys with a lot of upside versus a receiver who has just been getting better and better and is reaching his prime. Vincent Jackson has had an increase in receptions and yards every year since he's entered the NFL, and he's on pace to crush those numbers again (as well as obtain around 7-8 TDs again). He's still young and becoming one of the premiere receivers in the NFL.

I'm going to ask who else you have at WR. I only ask because if you have depth at WR, even in a dynasty, it prob is worth it to pull the trigger (yes, I know I'm changing my mind, deal with it). Vincent Jackson is going to be at the very least a great #2 WR for the next few years, if not a #1. Sims-Walker and Maclin can possibly be great, but it would be difficult to put them in the same category as Vincent Jackson.

I'm pass on this deal. VJax has been in the league 5years now I think, maybe 4yrs, but he is what he is and he isn't going to break out and be a top notch wr. Now you have two quality young wr's who are worth keeping for many years. I also really like Maclin, Philly somehow rebuilt there o-line, got a new young rb to take over for Westy and still have McNabb for a few more peak years, they are poised to really take off in the next few years. The only way I would think about this is if you need VJax to make a deep playoff run this year, but I think that Walker can put up equal numbers to him. Stick with what you have.
