I own both and think that Bradshaw probably saw his best game of the year last week.. unless Jacobs goes down.
You still have to start Jacobs though this week against NO. They'll most likely limit both guys on total yardage, but Jacobs can hopefully push through the end zone again.
I just traded for Brandon so I'm hoping he can get his numbers back up soon enough.
2010 12-team .5PPR QB - Ryan, Vick RB - S. Greene, Forte, Stewart, F. Jones, Sproles WR - Moss, Megatron, NYG Smith, Floyd, M. Williams (TB) TE - Cooley D - CIN (week to week) K - Bironas
I own B. Jacobs and he has kinda been a let down all year. Then again, NYG has played some pretty bad defenses. I think that NYG will see a lot more in the red zone, and a lot more quick small yardage this week against a somewhat better defense (which I think is what Jacobs is used for over Bradshaw).
I would go with Jacobs this week. It's a tough decision though, Jacobs isn't what I thought he would be this year, but neither are the defenses that NYG has played so far. Good luck!
I wish I had Jacobs this week. I agree totally with the pissed off Jacobs theory. I think he will go off this week and NY will be able to block up those interior guys for New Orleans.
Jacobs has been pissed for the past few weeks since the "Goose" said he needs to start hitting the holes and stop tiptoeing in the backfeild waiting for something to open up. Last week was supposed to be his breakout game but because of the "burner" or whatever you want to call it he sat for most of the game. But regardless he will be putting up big numbers one of these weeks so you have to stick with Jacobs. Only plus to last week was he basically had a bye sitting on the sidelines for most of the game so he should be well rested.
I have Bradshaw in a few of my leagues and decided to sit him for a lot of the same reasons that you have already received in this thread. I can see Jacobs having a good week plus Bradshaw could tweak his foot at any time.
Hmmmm, I am feeling and sensing a LOT of love for BJ over Ahmad in this thread so far --- but look at the FACTS:
1) Bradhaw's ypc exceed Jacobs' thru 5 weeks/games 2) Bradshaw's TD total exceeds Jacobs' so far as well 3) Bradshaw is tremendous after the catch, making the MOST of his receptions 4) Jacobs simply doesn't catch the ball out of the backfield with ANY regularity, he's a pounder 5) Bradshaw has been the more productive back by any metric you want to use 6) Bradshaw has more 100yd games than Jacobs, who has exactly zero 100yd efforts so far 7) Many experts predicted that Ahmad would be the more productive RB for the NYG this year bc Jacobs is seeing even more 8-9 men in the box defensive formations...
I'm sorry to have to break it to all of Jacobs' owners this year, but Ahmad is indeed the back you want in the NYG offense, the numbers CLEARLY bear this out, almost 1/3 of the way thru the season. Protective boot or not, Bradshaw is getting extended rest each week, keeping him fresher for sunday/monday games, and so far it is a recipe for success as far as the Giants/Bradshaw are concerned.
Keep starting Jacobs over Bradshaw and you will continue banging your head into the wall, cursing Ahmad each week. I traded Jacobs away pre-season in my keeper league for Mason for this very reason, being sure to draft Bradshaw in the middle rounds.
Sure, Jacobs COULD have a breakout game against N.O.a la Bradshaw last week vs OAK, but the numbers just don't suggest that will be the case so far, sorry to say...
