Yup Bagel mentioned it before in talking about the Trojans unwarranted ranking and it applies here too. The Ducks are ranked behind the Trojans because of three little letters U.S.C.

Oregon beat USC, Cal and lost to Boise, Stanford.
USC beat OSU, Cal lost to Oregon, Washington.

There's really no argument that makes sense for USC here, even if we took out the fact that Oregon beat USC.
-Both beat Cal, equal
-Oregon beat USC, USC beat OSU, pretty much equal
-Oregon lost to Boise, USC lost to Oregon. The voters obviously think Boise is a better loss, since they all have Boise ranked ahead of Oregon
-Oregon lost to Stanford, which is a better loss than Washington.

So the quality wins are basically equal, and both or Oregon's losses came against what the voters consider tougher opponents. Nevermind that Oregon smashed USC h2h on top of that...

But hey, how can you argue with...

Can anyone explain to me why USC is ahead of Oregon in the newest BCS standings?

They both have one bad loss (Washington, Stanford). They both have one good out of conference win (Ohio St, Boise St). Oregon beat USC when they played each other. They have the same record. Am I missing something or is this all the same old stupid USC bias?

psst...Boise beat Oregon...my guess is USC gets the slight bump based on the quality win over Ohio State

USC should not be over Oregon, they lost to Oregon. I don't care about strength of wins. They both have 2 losses and one beat the other, and beat them soundly. Oregon should be in front of them, plain and simple.

Boise would beat Washington, who USC lost to, and beat Oregon, who USC lost to. There should be no argument. There is though because the media, coaches, and apperantly computers all get on their knees for USC

Anyway, unfortunately it's pretty clear this year who will play in the NC: SEC champ vs Texas. Sorry Cincy. Better luck next decade Boise and TCU. As long as all of the undefeateds make it into one of the BCS bowl games, there won't be too much controversy this time around. I hate to say it, but they definitely deserve it more than an Iowa or USC.

As you probably know by now, I am big on the computer rankings. I believe they are unbiased, and while they aren't perfect, they are still a good barometer for how well teams are playing. Anyway, for what it's worth, Cincinnati is currently 3rd in the computer rankings, ahead of Texas (also, in case you're interested, Bama is in front of Florida).
