Oregon beat USC, Cal and lost to Boise, Stanford.
USC beat OSU, Cal lost to Oregon, Washington.
There's really no argument that makes sense for USC here, even if we took out the fact that Oregon beat USC.
-Both beat Cal, equal
-Oregon beat USC, USC beat OSU, pretty much equal
-Oregon lost to Boise, USC lost to Oregon. The voters obviously think Boise is a better loss, since they all have Boise ranked ahead of Oregon
-Oregon lost to Stanford, which is a better loss than Washington.
So the quality wins are basically equal, and both or Oregon's losses came against what the voters consider tougher opponents. Nevermind that Oregon smashed USC h2h on top of that...
But hey, how can you argue with...
