Week 7: WR starter help WHIR!

Postby 49ersavior » Wed Oct 21, 2009 1:49 pm

My Team, Start 1 QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1 TE, 1K, 1DST Per week, no ppr

Starters in bold
QB
McNabb, Donovan QB PHI @WAS
Hasselbeck, Matt QB SEA BYE

RB
Mendenhall, Rashard RB PIT MIN
Peterson, Adrian RB MIN @PIT
Jones, Julius RB SEA BYE

WR
Boldin, Anquan WR ARI @NYG
Collie, Austin WR IND @STL Dome
Jennings, Greg WR GB @CLE
Rice, Sidney WR MIN @PIT
Sims-Walker, Mike WR JAC BYE

TE
Clark, Dallas TE IND @STL Dome
Miller, Heath TE PIT MIN

K
Longwell, Ryan K MIN @PIT

DST
Colts DST @STL Dome

So my question here is with MSW on bye, should I start Rice over Boldin or Collie. Jennings is a must start imo, but Boldin has an ankle sprain and Collie is well, a rookie. Rice had a carrer game last week, so with 3 starting WRs, who do you like?

Rice
jennings the other two only based on matchup go with collie but if colts get up early they will just run brown.. but i think Boldin has a better chance to score

Well, Boldin is a gamer, but the Giants will be fired up after last week's spanking and with Breaston there they may rest Boldin...that being said, I'd go with Rice over Boldin. Check the reports though, because if Boldin is moving well it may be a different story. Chances are though he'll be limited, so go with Rice. Good luck and help with mine please (in the sig!).

What do you guys think about Colle? Is he a must start here to where it becomes between Rice and Boldin, or if Boldin is healthy do I go with Jennings, Rice, and Boldin?

I'd keep an eye on Boldin's status. He didn't practice again so unless he has a good day, I wouldn't risk it. Rice is a fine replacement, not a perfect situation, but better than playing someone who may not even finish the game.

I just realized he has a night game this week. If it's a game time decision and he doesn't practice before Sunday, I think I'm going to take the safe bet with Rice.

Jennings, Boldin, Rice

If Boldin isn't healthy then you can start Collie.

I would be slightly hesitant to start Rice this week as the Steelers are really one of the few teams that has a CB who can matchup and shut down a bigger WR like Rice. Ike Taylor is 6'2" which is very tall for a CB and generally does better against the bigger WR targets than the smaller, quicker wideouts. The Steelers also work to take away big plays downfield with the Cover 2 mentality in their zone blitzing scheme so I don't really anticipate a huge day for Rice. I could see someone like Harvin (should he play and be healthy) having more success as a tougher guy for them to match up with.

I'd start Jennings, Boldin, and Collie unless Boldin can't make a go of it.
