Should I trade Ronnie Brown for Ray Rice...WHIR

Postby danielgreen091 » Thu Oct 22, 2009 10:36 pm

I am in a keeper league and have been offered Ray Rice for Ronnie Brown straight up. One bonus to this offer is that Rice would be my keeper for next year since I cant keep Brown again.

I would since you can get two years out of Rice and only 1 from Brown, there is a small difference between their production. Rice is proving to be a big time playmaker. Also, he has little there other than McGahee and I have a feeling McGahee may be gone after this season. Normally I always take the "better" player but hen you can get an equivilent player for multiple seasons well there you go. I like both of these backs a lot. Thing is he also has less miledge on his body and less of an injury risk I think.

I personally like Rice if you can keep him for next season (I don't think their points will be much different at the end of the season).

I don't know that I'd make this trade. I'd rather have Brown the rest of this year, and I'm not sure it's that close. So I'd need to know more about whom else you could keep and how you sit in the standings to give an accurate opinion on the matter. But since I don't know all of that, I wil say that if you have a chance to make a run for a title this year, then I'd keep Brown. If you are looking more towards next year, then I'd make the trade. Rice will be fine this year, I just thinkn Brown will be much better. Hope that helps.

When i saw the topic i thought it was a pretty close trade. Both Brown and Rice have been money this year. That being said i would definitely do the trade for the one reason that you would get to keep Rice for next year. If he keeps going at the pace he is now he will be a first round pick in many redraft leagues so if you get to keep him your in very good shape.

First Id like to start off by this...

since i cant keep brown next year

Brown just turned 27...why on earth cant you keep him again? hes good for at least 2 years unless injury of course.

I would since you can get two years out of Rice and only 1 from Brown

Ok hold up... 2 years out of rice???? rice is 22..so your saying when he is 24 that he is no good???

Yes I would go with Rice because of the keeper option. He'll be used like Brown but even more in the passing game. Please reply to my post

His Keeper league is probably like mine where out keepers are "assigned" contracts so you can only keep players for certain lengths of time to keep the talent re-entering the pool every so often.
