BIG trade Tough Decision WHIR Manning

Postby nicks523 » Sat Oct 24, 2009 12:11 am

So I've been exchanging trade offers with another team in my league when the other team finally game me a respectable one to think about it. I am having a tough time deciding. Here it is

I get Peyton Manning
I give Marques Colston

My Team Right now

QB- Joe Flacco, Tony Romo
RB- Stephen Jackson, Ray Rice, Kevin Smith, Pierre Thomas, Sproles
WR- Randy Moss, Marques Colston, Hines Ward, Mike Sims-Walker, Moh Mass
TE-Chris Cooley

The scoring system is kind of different than a normal league. We get 2 points for every 10 yards rushing/Receiving with bonuses for long TDs and 100 yards in a game. Qbs points are 6 for a TD and 1 point for every 25 yards bonuses at 300 and 400 yards.

The problem that I am having is over the years I have found my key to success is never draft a QB until late in the draft and take as many WR and RB as i can over the past three years this has gotten me and second, first and second place finish all three winning money. Right now my record is 4-1-1 and the oppenents is 1-5 so this is pretty much a desperation move. I countered with Kevin smith and Romo for Peyton but i didn't get him to bite. I am just trying to get some outside opinions on this trade. One thing i am thinking about doing is proposing Colston and Cooley for Peyton and Tony Gonzalez.

Is it to early to start thinking about the playoffs? Colston gets ATL, DAL, and TB seems pretty juicy to me. Peyton gets DEN, JAC, and NYJ

I think it is a toss up.

You have the depth at WR, you will still look good there but now you will have Peyton as your starting QB.
The only thing to consider is when will Peyton start playing half games because the Colts have division/home field clinched?
But you do have serviceable back ups to plug in.

Thinking about it, I would do it. You get the top 1 or 2 QB and your WR corp doesn't take a huge hit.

Make the trade. Peyton can win leagues. Flacco has been great but Manning is on another level. Then you can simply start Moss, Hines, and Sims-Walker at WR even in trading away Colston.

I think Peyton is the best QB in the league so I would jump all over this. You can use Flacco and another player to help strengthen your rb/wr later. Peyton is the premier player in Fantasy right now. See my post below.

I would not do this deal. You don't need help at Qb and Moss Colsten is a monster WR combo. You can use Flacco/Romo plus one of your backup RB/WR to upgrade your Qb if you think you need to. Don't forget that Peyton gets benched late in the season if they have clenched a bye and they are undefeated right now.
