Which TE to drop?

Postby NOLA Mike » Sat Oct 24, 2009 4:54 pm

I have Jeremy Shockey and Jason Witten as my TE's. I am only required to play one per week. I have 2 bench spots that are occupied with other players that I would like to keep and, therefore, have 3 players on my bench and was considering just not playing my kicker and hoping to win by a decent margin. I just thought about dropping Witten and riding Shockey throughout the season since Shockey has already had his bye. Is this just crazy thought or does it sound logical. My scoring for receivers is: 1 pt/rec, 1 pt/10 yds, 6 pts/td. Here is my roster.

QB
Eli Manning
(NYG - QB)
Drew Brees
(NO - QB)

WR
Greg Jennings
(GB - WR)
Santonio Holmes
(Pit - WR)

RB
Leon Washington
(NYJ - RB)
Ryan Grant
(GB - RB)

TE
Jason Witten
(Dal - TE

BN
Jeremy Shockey
(NO - TE)
Chris Johnson
(Ten - RB)
Denver
(Den - DEF)

K
--empty--

DEF
Carolina
(Car - DEF)
New England
(NE - DEF)

Good idea, I'm doing the same with Celek. But could you trade him instead of just dropping? How deep is the league?

Also, trade Eli you could run Brees all year as well.

Just dropped Shockey. I decided that Brees has too many quality options to throw to so Shockey will inevitably show up here and there but I have a gut feeling he'll be lacking consistency and will have some games where he's pretty much non-existent. Also, we are just talking about TE's here so, if it really comes down to it, I can just plug and play off the WW as needed throughout the season. Anyway, I've come to terms with it and am comfortable with this decision. So far as dropping Eli, I play 2 QB's a week in my league so I am considering myself lucky to have those 2 as my starters.

Anybody feel free to chime in and say if you agree with me that this was a good move or that you think I'm an idiot for doing such a thing. (I'm sure I won't get any comments confirming the latter, seeing as how i be's a geenious and all, ya'll. ;-)

Thanks.
