Some trade help for a FFB rookie please

Postby Bonger » Thu Oct 29, 2009 7:12 am

Hello,

This is my first year playing FFB. I am in a 10 team H2H PPR league and am currently tied for 2nd place, through a LOT of luck. Honestly,my team, imo, is just not very good.

Anyway, I have worked out a tentative trade and was hoping to get some feedback.

I give Eli and Forte, and get back TJ Houshmanzadah and Ryan Grant. Thoughts?

My team:

Warner, Kurt QB ARI
Forte, Matt RB CHI
Portis, Clinton RB WAS
Westbrook, Brian RB PHI
Moss, Santana WR WAS
Ward, Hines WR PIT
Gonzalez, Tony TE ATL
Akers, David K PHI
Steelers DST

Manning, Eli QB NYG
Chargers DST
Wells, Beanie RB ARI
Gonzalez, Anthony WR IND
Maroney, Laurence RB NE
Williams, Roy E. WR DAL

From the look of your squad it seems you're kind of thin at RB. You get Grant so I would be ok w/ that part of the deal. However, I don't know that I'd want TJH. I'm not trusting enough in SEA's offense, with no run game to speak of, and a tenderized QB, to give up Eli for TJ. Particularly when everybody who starts Warner holds their breath on every snap, expecting the inevitable hip break. You could use some help at WR but I think you're about to get that since you've wisely held on to Gonzo. I say stand pat.

Thanks for the response.

He also offered me Chris Johnson staight up for Forte. Is that something I might want to go for?

i dont like that trade one bit for u. ur giving up the 2 better players. TJ is on the backend of his career, and injuries along the O-line and QB position in seattle doesnt help his cause. Eli>TJ. and i kno forte has struggled this year but his value is still higher than ryan grants. your team isn't too bad. if this is a 1yr redraft league, then i think your fine as long as u work the waivers and pickup the flavor of the week with upside, ur just a little thin at WR.

if he offered you chris johnson for matt forte, take that in a heartbeat. both RB are not on winning teams but i like chris johnson's value a lot more and he's at least producing as a top 5 back. if you can get that deal, roll with it.

EJECT, EJECT! Do not trade Forte for CJ. Look at his numbers. They are skewed up by one or two performaces. He's on really bad passing team that's about to get worse now that Young is throwing (just announced). 8 or 9 even in the box is not far off for CJ. Unless you think Vince Young is the cure for what ails 'em I say stay w/ your guy.

have you even looked at forte's numbers? HIS numbers are skewed by ONE game, and he only rushed for 121 yds. he's averaging 3.5 ypc. CJ424's biggest game he rushed for 197 yds, and his 2nd highest was 128. and he did while only getting 16 and 17 carries in each of those games. CJ has much, much more big play ability than forte. BOTH guys are on poor teams (CJ's is worse i'll give you that) but johnson has played a lot better than forte, and people believe CJ has dissappointed so far. CJ is also averageing 6.3 ypc. CJ has gained over 4.4 ypc in 4 out of 6 games, and the other 2 he averaged 3.8 which is stil higher that forte's season avg. i'm not understanding how you value CJ less than forte. preseason, yes. production this yr so far, not even close. there's a difference between what "draft gurus" hype in the preseason and what the players actually produce.

Of course there's a difference between what was and what is. Here's more obvious news: water is wet, deserts are dry, and the Titan offense couldn't score in a women's prison w/ a pound of pot.

It's no knock against CJ but how long can the charade go on? Does anyone actually think the TEN O will get BETTER w/ Young? If I'm wrong I'll eat my stylish hat, but I really don't believe I am. The only reason I would argue for Forte (or many others for that matter) against CJ is the offense on which they play. The Bears O, while not knocking me over, is better able to keep D's from stacking the box than TEN. This will begin to show soon. If I owned CJ I'd be selling high right now. And the fact that his name keeps coming up in this forum, asking "Should I trade ____ for CJ" makes me think a lot of owners agree w/ me.
