I am unsure of the difference between "deactivating" and releasing, but he is still on the roster - right? He just won't be dressing on Sundays, I assume.

I'm watching ESPN right now and the screen says that he has been deactivated for the remainder of the year. I'm not sure what exactly this means; but there is no mention of them releasing him

Hmm. They changed it from "released" to "deactivated" within like 2 minutes. Still is pretty shocking, and like what was said in the earlier post; he could very well get released at any time.

Deactivate usually is followed by a release... im not sure in this case though

What it means is simple. he is deactivated, meaning he is still a member of the bucs, still collects paychecks but wont play any more this season. its a move done in order to ship him out at the end of the season for whatever reason (salary cap, he just plain sucks, they are tired of his off the field antics, etc..), and let jurevicous get some playing time to get back to speed following his injury. They dont want someone else getting Keyshawn this year, but they dont want him anymore and are thinking towards next year becasue they know their season is over.

What it means to fantasy football? Well Keenan McKardell just became the hottest free agent out there on the off chance he's still available, which I doubt. keenen's numbers will skyrocket, now why the hell did I drop him 4 weeks ago??????????
