Was this a bad trade?

Postby umma10 » Fri Oct 30, 2009 4:41 pm

I think I came out on top but, most of the guys in the league said I lost on the deal.

Standard Yahoo scoring:
Start (1 QB, 3 WR's, 2 RB, 1 TE, 1 K, & 1 DST)

QB: A. Rodgers, B. Favre
WR: A. Johnson, D. Jackson, S. Rice, J. Cotchery, S.Moss
RB: D.Williams, R.Brown, R.Rice, J.Addai
TE: B.Celek
K: N. Rackers
DST: GB, NO

I traded: S.Rice, D.Williams, and GB DST
I Received: V. Jackson, B.Berrian, NYJ DST

He wanted to trade a defense so I said what ever...I thought I could afford to lose my #3 RB (Williams) even better now that Addai will get most carries with Brown out. And Berrian is just chump change.

My Team now looks like this:

QB: A. Rodgers, B. Favre
WR: A. Johnson, D. Jackson, V. Jackson, J. Cotchery, S.Moss
RB: R.Brown, R.Rice, J.Addai
TE: B.Celek
K: N. Rackers
DST: NYJ, NO

Tell me your thoughts

While you are stocked at RB and can afford to lose one, you essentially made the trade just for V. Jackson. Berrian has done nothing all year, and if you want to own a Vikings receiver, Sidney Rice is the guy to own, followed by Harvin. So, you pretty much just gave up D. Williams and Sidney Rice for one Vincent Jackson. So yeah, you got the worse end of the deal. That said, you have a strong team so it won't hurt you that badly. Just know you gave up a lot of depth to make a small upgrade at WR. If you're ok with that, then great!

Not to throw more dirt on this, but I also think you made a bad deal. Having that much RB depth is always good, as you can take advantage of matchups more, absorb injuries, etc. It's not awful, but I think you didn't make your team any better.

Any help on my question would be great, thanks.

thank you for the feedback:

I still think I made the right decision because D.Williams is NOT playing that good and he is on a horrible team plus his schedule is very tough and I would of used him only in 1 week from week 8 to week 16. V.JAX has a cake walk schedule and he is complimented with DJAX and A.Johnson all in the top 10. My QB in the top 5, my starting RB's (R.Brown & R.Rice) are top 10 backs. My bench for sits Cotchery who is a great WR yea coming off an injury but, has a good schedule and Addai who is performing great. I am 6-1 as of now and I have only played Williams 3 times and he burned me at least once so statistically speaking Williams is not a #1 RB. and VJAX is a #1 WR.
