Can you sit REGGIE WAYNE?

Postby IronCityGuy » Sat Oct 31, 2009 3:11 am

Injured? Colts up early? Could this result in shortened playing time for Wayne? The have plenty of receiving options with-out him for a home game vs S.F. Is he too risky a play? Here's what My line-up would look like with-out him.

Mike Sims-Walker @ TENN
Devin Hester vs CLEVELAND
Nate Burleson @ DALLAS

I like this group with-out Wayne. But you have to get all you can out of your line-up. If I play Wayne I sit Nate.

I will help with yours.

No, you can't. Unless some new info comes out between now and Sunday morning, Wayne is a start. Yes, there is a Q beside his name, but it doesn't hold much weight. Check the link for further comments on this, but from a much more reliable source than myself.

Dude,

You can do whatever you want, it's your fantasy team. I look at it like this, Fantasy football is gambling, anytime you start or sit a player you are gambling that that player will or will not have a big game.

It's like poker in some ways too... Sometimes you are holding pocket kings and sometimes you hold 2 aces - Reggie Wayne is the pocket aces- a sure thing, best hand you can have but of course they don't always win do they?? Hell no. Sometimes you gotta fold your aces because of bad flop or whatever and sometimes it is he right move. You feel your beaten, so you fold.

If you feel the Colts will be up early and by a large amount and Wayne is banged up and you think he isn't gonna have a big day, then go with the gut. HOWEVER - you have to be prepared to hate yourself and to get a ton of jokes and heat from other owners for taking out one of the leagues best WR's.

In closing, last week Heinze Ward had .8 points for me. His matchup was extremely favorable and that is what he gave me. Before the game- for just a brief moment, I contimplated putting in Hakeem Nicks, just had a feeling that he streak of good games would end. But I didn't do it bc i wasn't prepared to hate myself if I was wrong but for a second, it was a possibility. The point is, everyone has off days and everyone has bad games, Wayne will not have a fantastic game every single Sunday, maybe this is one of them because of the circumstances.

Also note, I have Reggie Wayne in my league and as of right now, I am indeed starting him - and this is a must win week for my team.

Best of luck,

E

As the above post says, it's ultimately your call. However, I own Wayne myself, and will be starting him this week. He's Peyton's favorite target, and the Colts still seem to like to pass even when they're up by a good margin. True, if his groin is still tweaked, they may sit him should the Colts jump out to a huge lead. But I have a feeling he'll likely grab a TD or two before that happens.
