Pick up Avery, Harvin, and/or Floyd? WHIR

Postby tiff80 » Mon Nov 02, 2009 9:06 am

This is not just for next week, but for the rest of the season.

My current WRs are Massaquoi, S. Moss, Owens, Royal, Steve Smith(NYG), and Kevin Walter. Would you pick up Avery, Harvin, and/or Floyd? And who would you drop for them?

I also have Chris Cooley. Should I hang onto him? Or drop him for one of those WRs? My other TE is Todd Heap.

Some other WRs on the waiver wire:
Antonio Bryant
Andre Caldwell
Laveraneous Coles
Bobby Wade
Chris Henry
Josh Morgan
Sam Aiken

Non-PPR, 6 pts/TD, and 1 pt/10 yards receiving

Thanks in advance. Leave a link and I will help in return.

After last night's game, I'd definitely take Harvin over Avery. Harvin's one of Favre's favorite go-to guys on third down, and that 50-yd TD catch & run he had was pretty awesome.

As for your current roster, I'd keep Walter for the time being--with Daniels out for the season, Walter may end up seeing significantly more passes thrown his way. Massaquoi could potentially be worth a drop if for no other reason than his team and QB being horrible. Same goes for Moss...Campbell isn't a bad QB per se, but Washington's o-line is in shambles. Then again, I don't know that you could really drop Moss at this point.

Owens could be a potential sell-high candidate. Hang on to Smith. Royal is a toss-up; I'd personally rather have Harvin or Floyd, but that's just me.

Breaston may also be a decent pick-up IF Antonio Bryant's ankle looks like it'll cause him to miss any time.

I'd definitely take Harvin over those others.

As far as Cooley, I'd cut ties with him. Even if he DID come back in 4 weeks (doubtful, IMO), you're looking at week 12. That's too long, and too late in the season to hold a roster spot, I'd think. Maybe Fred Davis is still available? Shiancoe? I'd hurry before the Owen Daniels owner hits the wire, also.

Pickup Harvin and Drop Cooley

Keep an eye on Floyd and other potential options at TE. (I doubt you're going to regret dropping Cooley but you could probably do better than Heap.)

To be honest, I think you can do a lot better than the guys you have, for sure. Definitely snag Harvin, Cooley is a pretty safe drop at this point. Though, that being said, Massaquoi, Owens, Royal, Walter, and Heap have all kind of looked like crap. You might want to watch the wire like a hawk. I've got to believe that Floyd, and maybe even Avery, are worth a chance over the likes of Kevin Walter and Massaquoi. You should also be on the lookout for a new TE, see if Dustin Keller is available.

Who should I target first? I lost this week which means I have one of the top few picks in the waiver wire. Should I go for Harvin first? Or since Chambers was released, would Floyd be a good option too? Ideally I'd like to get both of them, but not sure that'll happen.

I would Grab Harvin first. Remember that once Brett Farve finds a player he likes he uses them all the time (Sharpe/Chapman/Freeman/Driver/Franks/Keller and now Harrvin
