Should I roll with this team?? - WHIR - 100%

Postby bounce » Mon Nov 02, 2009 9:49 am

I'm going to stand 4-4 after tonight (save for Colston going for about 400yds and 8 TDs and Gonzo fumbling 12 times). The losses I've had are mainly due to bye weeks, or facing the highest scoring team when I'm 2nd highest -- so I feel ok about my team. The one concern I have is the lack of production from WR, although I have the names. That's the position I'd target, but I don't want to shake something up.

My team:
Q - Romo
R - MJD, R.Rice
W - Jennings, Calvin
W/R - Hightower
T - Gonzo
K - Kaeding
D - Cowboys

Bench: Maroney, Burleson, Manningham, P.Thomas, Flacco

The only idea I had was to try to package Flacco/Calvin for somebody like Andre Johnson or Fitzgerald - but there don't seem to be many true #1 WRs tearing it up week in and out, so I may be better off just keeping my depth.

Talk me into or out of a trade..

(2nd question -- what's the verdict on Pierre and Hightower for the rest of the year? I turned Julius Jones and Willie Parker into them off the waiver wire this past week.)

Leave a link!! Thanks in advance.

Given your choices, I'd stand pat with what you have UNLESS you can package something together for Harvin or S. Rice..Favre has those two in his gunsights..

Thanks for your help...

I'd be patient as well. I'm in a similar boat--solid team but sitting at 3-5 after this week (unless Roddy has a career day). Megatron has proven he can score while in a bad situation. He'll start producing for you.

As for your 2nd question...I like Pierre a bit more than Hightower, but I think they will both be the #1 guy on their teams. The only reason I see Hightower dropping off is if the Cards tank and they just want to get Wells some reps.

Good luck!
Passing TDs = 4
All other TDs = 6
100 yd rushing bonus = 4
PPR
All other basic scoring

VERY strict rosters...MUST have:

2 QBs (start 1)
3 RBs (start 2)
4 WRs (start 2)
2 TEs (start 1)
2 D/STs (start 1)
2 Ks (start 1)
Flex--ANY offensive player

Just sit pat at this point. Don't jump the gun on something just to make a move. Then, maybe try to pick up a better (but not necessarily studly) WR at low cost. Rice and Harvin are good options. Austin Collie, maybe even Steve Breaston, also come to mind.

I agree with the above posters. I think you should continue to roll with this team. You got a good team. Thanks for the help on mine.

Eventually luck should balance back out in your favor. While I don't disagree that you could benefit from a WR1-type, your team is solid enough all around that the wins should start coming. (I was in a similar position a couple weeks ago with an above average team that was .500 despite putting up the most points in the league and I opted to stand pat while keeping an eye on the free agents, and I'm now 5-3 and in 3rd place. It all balances out eventually.)

If anything, I'd try to pair Hightower with someone to potentially upgrade the flex spot (unless this is a PPR league). I think it's going to be tougher to pry an elite WR away from a team than a solid RB. Try to find a team that needs the depth that's also trying to shake things up.

Good luck.
