I'm sitting at 4-4 in a 10 team league. 4 other teams are currently 4-4. I really need to run off a couple of wins in a row in order to make the playoffs (6 teams).
I was offered R. Rice and Antonio Gates for D. Jackson & MBIII. My roster is below.
What do you think? Does a Steven Jackson/R. RIce combination give me a better team for the rest of the season than playing match-up with MB3 and Portis? Neither of them have been that productive to date. Giving up DeSean is hard, but I can't imagine he continues to be this productive every game for the rest of the season.
Leave your honest opinions and a link. I will return the help. Thanks!
BALLS DEEP FF QB: Cutler, Shaub RB: SJax, Portis, MBIII, L. Johnson, J. Jones WR/TE: C. Johnson, D. Bowe, DeSean Jackson, M. Sims-Walker, O. Daniels [IR] D/ST: CIN, HOU K: Kaeding

How many of each RB, WR, & TE do you start?
Assuming you aren't required to start a TE (that's the impression I got from how you posted your roster), I'm not sure I like it for you with Gates. A large part of Gates's value is based upon position scarcity and if TE = WR in this format, Gates isn't that special.
Ray Rice would be a great upgrade at RB for you but the dropoff in production from DeSean Jackson to Gates (if he's essentially treated as a WR in this format) is steep.
I would need to know more about the format (and how many you start at each postion) before giving you a definitive answer.
QB Kyle Orton, Den QB RB DeAngelo Williams, Car RB RB Ray Rice, Bal RB WR/TE Reggie Wayne, Ind WR WR/TE Santonio Holmes, Pit WR WR/TE T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Sea WR D/ST Ravens D/ST, Bal D/ST K Stephen Gostkowski, NE K Bench Lawrence Tynes, NYG K Bench Brett Favre, Min QB P Bench Adrian Peterson, Min RB Bench Chester Taylor, Min RB Bench Antonio Gates, SD TE Bench Ronnie Brown, Mia RB Bench Bills D/ST, Buf D/ST
Rice is tempting but I'd have to say no. Even with the upgrade at RB I don't think you can afford to give up any WR's. His team is super solid at RB, but he must realize that he has a WR depth problem and he's trying to fix that. He can afford to give up a stud RB since he has 4 of them in Brown, Peterson, Rice and DWill. At the same time I don't think you can afford to weaken your WR position.
Someone in that league must be deep at WR. Unfortunatley, I think the other guy is in a better position to trade for one than you are as he has more value to offer at RB.
He probably wouldn't go for it but I'd offer him D. Jackson for Rice straight up, then turn and try to trade Portis or MBIII with another team to get a WR to replace him. This is risky though as you aren't guaranteed to find a trade parner. I don't think most people would take that offer, but I think he's looking at his WR depth and might put more value into D. Jackson than usual becuase he lacks depth. Also, he can afford to give away a RB practically for free and it wouldn't hurt his team one bit.
That's a tough one because I think D. Jackson will continue to be a stud all year. He's one of the most explosive players in the league and can score every time he touches the ball. I really like Rice and think he'll continue to do well. Since you don't have to play a TE, I'm just don't think it's worth the drop at WR. I think you are giving up too much.
12 Team League. We start 2 QBs and get .5 PPR, otherwise standard scoring QBs: Stafford, Fitzpatrick, Collins RBs: Charles, Mendenhall, Best, Starks, Carter, Karim WRs: D. Jackson, Marshall, S. Smith, Green, TE: Hernandez, Cook
