Forte for Gates

Postby utility-hook » Tue Nov 03, 2009 8:23 pm

I was thinking of upgrading my TE position by trying to acquire Antonio Gates for Matt Forte. Forte has had 2 good games, both coming against terrible defenses(Det & Clev). The other 5 games he didnt do jack s___. He has a tough schedule the rest of the season except for the Rams week 13. I guess what im asking is do I trade Forte straight up for Gates or could I get more for him? I will still have Ronnie Brown, Rice & PT to choose from each week at RB.

My Team
QB Manning(Ind),
RB M. Forte(Chic), P. Thomas(NO), R. Brown(Mia), Ray Rice(Balt)
WR Wayne(Ind), Marshall(Den), Sims-Walker(Jax)), D. Mason(Balt)
TE J. Carlson(Sea)
K N. Rackers(Arz)
DEF Chic

Other Team
QB McNabb
RB Peterson(Min), Barber(Dal), Hightower(Arz), Mendenhall(Pit)
WR Driver(GB), Ocho Cinco, Jackson(Phil)
TE Gates(SD), V. Davis(SF)
K Folk(Dal)
D Saints

10 Teams
Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1K, 1Def
4 pts for Pass TD
1 pt for 30yds pass, -2 int
1 pt for 10 yds rush/rec, -2 fumbles lost
6pt for rush/rec TD

Interesting. Instinct says no, that's nuts. But the difference between Gates and Carlson is greater then Forte and your other RBS. So I say try it. The other guy may not do it though, since his RBs aren't bad.
12 Team League. We start 2 QBs and get .5 PPR, otherwise standard scoring
QBs: Stafford, Fitzpatrick, Collins
RBs: Charles, Mendenhall, Best, Starks, Carter, Karim
WRs: D. Jackson, Marshall, S. Smith, Green,
TE: Hernandez, Cook

How many teams are in this league? You're both pretty deep.

I think you found an ideal trade partner. He really has nothing to lose rolling the dice on Forte since he has Vernon Davis to step in at TE for him (who has been outplaying Gates recently).

If he accepts, drop Carlson for Forsett (or the best RB available).

i think it a good trade straight up with the RB depth you have.

Tough call, I don't know if he'd accept since he's already deep at RB and Gates is good insurance if something happens to Davis down the stretch.
If I were you I'd probably go for it, you have decent RB depth and would likely be benching Forte some weeks anyway depending on matchups, and you'd be getting a big upgrade at TE.

Thanks for helping w/ mine.
