Need a 3rd WR

Postby nonnag » Fri Nov 06, 2009 10:26 am

In my flex spot I wanna go with a 3rd WR this week because AP is one a bye and I don't like the other RB matchups. Should I go with:

Mike Sims-Walker (WR, Jac) vs. KC. This game is in Jacksonville.

or

TJ Houshmandzadeh (WR, Sea) vs. DET. This game is in Seattle.

Both home games. Both favorable matchups versus terrible D's. MSW has flopped the past 2 weeks because MJD has been a stud in the Jags' backfield and TJ has been inconsistent and underwhelming (1 great game, 1 good game, and 1 serviceable game).

Its a non-PPR league. Thoughts?

FYI: Rest of my roster-

Tony Romo, Dal QB (Starting)
Eli Manning, NYG QB (Bench)
Adrian Peterson, Min RB (Bye)
Willis McGahee, Bal RB (Bench)
Ahmad Bradshaw, NYG RB (Bench)
Ricky Williams, Mia RB (Starting)
Jamaal Charles, KC RB (Starting)
Reggie Wayne, Ind WR (Starting)
Hines Ward, Pit WR (Starting)
TJ Houshmandzadeh, Sea WR (PENDING)
Mike Sims-Walker, Jac WR (PENDING)
Devin Hester, Chi WR (Bench)
Antonio Gates, SD TE (Starting)
Kellen Winslow, TB TE (Bench)
Eagles D/ST (Starting)
David Akers, Phi K (Starting)

Hmm...that is tough. Look at who gets more targets per game and go with him. I would probably go with MSW because I know that TJ is not Hasselbeck's #1 target (that is Burleson)

Sorry I can't give you a definite answer but based on your situation I'd say just flip a coin.

I'd probably go with Housh because its against Detroit, but its pretty close between the two and I dont think you can go wrong either way.

Help?

With Housh-your-mama going against Detroit that seemingly would be the play to make... I think TJ has a good week as will most Seahawks on the O-side of the ball...

Crap. A split-decision.

TJ is the de-facto #2, but he could go off for 20+ points like he did back in week 3 (4?) against such a bad D as Detroit's.

MSW may be good for 15 or 1, depending on how much rushing Jacksonville relies on against a very poor KC run D (very poor overall D too I guess).

DARN IT!

Would anyone think I'm crazy for playing both MSW and TJ along with Reggie Wayne... and sitting Hines Ward (against Denver) instead?

Hines is usually Ben's go-to guy, good for 8+ targets per game but Denver DOES have a tough D against the pass... I was reluctant to sit him though because absent his poor performance before their bye, he's been studly.

Thoughts on this as an alternative?
