Turner Trade... Did I get Ripped off? WHIR ofc

Postby munstermann » Fri Nov 06, 2009 3:50 pm

Ok this trade has already gone through but I'm interested in opinions as to whether this was a beneficial trade for me or not.
I'm playing in a 12 Owner PPR League.

At RB I had Mendenhall, Westbrook, Turner, Jamal Lewis, and Beanie Wells... start 2 RB's per week
AT WR I had Gonzo, Burleson, Roddy White, and Mark Clayton. Since we Start 3 WR's and Gonzo has been out for entire season, I wanted to get at least one more top Reciever in there. So I traded

Michael Turner + Mark Clayton ::FOR:: Calvin Johnson, LT, and Portis

Opinions? I like that it makes my WR squad pretty awesome (Johnson, White, and Burleson) and I have some mad depth at RB... only prob is that they are all basically RB2's. Thoughts? It's always nice to have other opinions Leave a link and I'd be glad to lend my advice!

No I don't think you got ripped off. I like Turner, but losing Clayton had no effect. You get some RB depth to move in the event one of those guys blow up to improve your team.

Thanks for your help.

bump... thanks for your input jaykla. It would be nice if one of the 4 other people with WHIR in their topic who I helped out could give some input, you know, since they said they would help in return and all. In this forum users use to actually stick to what they said, now people just use 'whir' as a tool to get quicker responses and don't actually help out. Wish there was a way to rate people's responsiveness :(

I wouldn't say you got ripped off but I probably would not have done the deal. Your WR are awesome, IF Calvin comes back 100%. Now you have 3 RB-Portis, LT, and Mendenhall that you can platoon as needed with match-ups. Unfortunately for you, I am a skins fan and Portis has a terrible schedule from here on out and SD is now officially a passing team. Mendenhall I do like. You do have flexibility and if Beanie becomes more of a factor then you have even more.
Good luck.

Thanks for the help on mine......

I think you made out just fine....Mendenhall is the starter for Pitt (it's up to him to lose it), LT is due for a big game. Your WR's are solid. For what it's worth should should be ok.]

No, not at all a rip-off. Whether you "win" rides on Calvin getting healthy. As a previous Calvin owner, I know that it didn't matter how crappy his QBs were or how sucky his team was ... if he was healthy he produced. You get a couple of older RBs in return too. LT and Portis don't seem like what they used to, but they still are the top RBs on their teams. You'd have a ton of serviceable RBs, allowing you to play matchups and weather injuries. Only needing to start 2 RBs made trading one of yours for a WR a smart move. Getting playable RBs back was also big, given Westy's health concerns.
